In a special video, Solo Leveling producer Sota Furuhashi revealed that Season 2 will fulfill many fans' desire to explore characters beyond main character Sung Jin-woo.
YouTube channel Aniplex released the pilot episode of ANIPLEX After Hours, in which voice actress Sally Amaki sat down with Furuhashi, who produced Solo Leveling and Mashle: Magic and Muscles. When asked how Solo Leveling will 'level up' in Season 2, Furuhashi replied: “In Season 1, it focused a lot on the main character's development and of course, that continues in Season 2, but this time, We'll also focus on the side characters and fill out the story a bit more as we wrap things up. So you'll get a more 360-degree view of the world of Solo Leveling in Part 2.”

Solo Leveling's Poor Blu-ray Sales Reveal a Major Change in the Anime Industry
Solo Leveling Volume 2 Blu-ray and DVD sales data are surprisingly low, showing how “success” has changed in the anime industry.
Furuhashi was less open about the progress of Solo Leveling Season 2, titled “Arise From the Shadow,” playing coy, saying, “We are working hard. That's all I can say.” Furuhashi also shared stories about the production of Mashle, specifically highlighting how the success of the Season 2 opener “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born” shocked even them; Aniplex didn't even ask the animators to do a dance or Creepy Nuts to create a song that everyone could dance to. “But what we achieved was completely by chance,” Furuhashi said. Hopes for a third season were also raised a bit, with Furuhashi adding that he personally wants to do it and urged fans to speak up. Mashle's manga sales increased significantly by a factor of ten compared to the monthly average during the release of Part 2.
Solo Leveling's focus on Sung Jin-woo in Manhwa has been criticized in the past
Solo Leveling's lack of focus on other characters was a notable criticism of the original manhwa, and even attempts to improve upon it in the anime were not without criticism. This is something that Solo Leveling director Shunsuke Nakashige sought to change, focusing more on Hunter Cha Hae-in to get a good reception from fans. Additional scenes were added to the Solo Leveling anime to “add more plot to the story.” Furuhashi has previously said that this was necessary to convey the quality of the manhwa through the very different mediums of anime.
