The characters are always at the heart of every game, and in most famous works, the main characters, controlled by the player, will often be labeled as the main character, built in the direction of heroism. However, sometimes things don’t go so naturally. Sometimes, developers want to do something different, and that is also the basis for the appearance of many main characters, but suffers from special estrangement and disgust from the players. For example, the poor characters below.
Aiden Pearce in Watch_Dogs
Watch_Dogs is considered by many to be the most unattractive game in the Watch Dogs series. This partly comes from the significant degradation in terms of graphics, gameplay as well as the game’s operating mechanism itself. But contributing the most to this failure is the way the main character is built, Aiden Pearce can hardly be worse from the developer’s side.
Not smart, funny, Aiden Pearce even deals more damage to those around him than any enemy. Aiden himself does not have a prominent personality or charm that is too noticeable and difficult to receive sympathy from the player.
Patroklos in Soulcalibur DRAW
In addition to controversial gameplay changes, Soulcalibur V also encountered a lot of opposition from players in the way its story was built. And the image of the main character Patroklos can be considered the clearest proof of that failure.
Basically, Patroklos is an arrogant guy who spends most of his time in pointless fights and doing evil things. Patroklos’ journey also doesn’t make any impressions throughout the game. He was even complained about taking over the “acting land” of many other potential supporting characters.
Henry Townshend in Silent Hill 4: The Room
Silent Hill 2 is one of the best horror titles in history, and the game’s protagonist, James Sunderland has even become an irreplaceable icon. It’s a success, but it’s also a challenge for the series’ developers to try to create compelling sequels, and a character with more charisma than James Sunderland has ever managed.
Unfortunately, Henry Townshend is not such a character. Despite being tried to develop, but personally Henry Townshend and the game Silent Hill 4: The Room did not bring significant impressions. Henry himself was judged as too lacking in emphasis, without personality, not properly developed according to the plot. In other words, compared to James Sunderland’s perfect role model in the previous installment, Henry Townshend is too ordinary.
