Blue Giant, adapted from the jazz comic by Shinichi Ishizuka originally premiered in Japan on February 17 and was shown in North America on October 8 and 9. Yuzuru Tachikawa (Mob Psycho 100 III, Mob Pyscho 100 and Mob Pyscho 100 II director) directed the film at NUT.
The manga published by Shogakukan was released from 2013 to 2016 on Big Comic. This was followed by Blue Giant Supreme in 2016, Blue Giant Explorer in 2020, and Blue Giant Momentum in July 2023. As of the ninth tankoubon volume of Blue Giant Supreme, NUMBER 8 was assigned as story director.
Seven Seas Entertainment describes the original Blue Giant manga as follows:
Dai lives a normal high school life in Sendai: a city with hot summer days and rainy nights. Between basketball, a part-time job and an uncertain future, something was missing. And that thing is music. As his senior days came to a close, Dai swore a heartfelt vow: “I will become the best jazz player in the world.”
But what do you need to be the best? Talent? Try? A lucky break? Or maybe just a deep, pure love for music and too stubborn to know when to give up.
