Animation Studio Trigger and Takara Tomy teased a “40th Anniversary Video Project” last month between Trigger and the Transformers franchise to celebrate the latter’s 40th anniversary. And while it was initially stated that this would be a 40th Anniversary promotional video, that hasn’t stopped fans from hoping for an official Transformers anime from Trigger.
Now Takara Tomy has revealed the full “Transformers 40th Anniversary Special” that fans have been pinning their hopes on, but there’s a catch… the video is only available in Japan.
Akira Amemiya, who directed the anime SSSS.Gridman and SSSS.Dynazenon, is the director, scriptwriter, and animator for the short. The 3:49 video uses the 2007 song “Mayday” by BUMP OF CHICKEN.

A regional version of the video is also not available on any official X/Twitter accounts. However, Studio Trigger and BUMP OF CHICKEN have both posted screenshots from the video.

Many fans of the series have been looking forward to this collaboration between Transformers and Studio Trigger, so it's a shame that this video is only available in Japan. We hope to see an official, region-free release in the near future.
