Video game adaptations are becoming more and more popular in television and film. So it’s no wonder Netflix has tripled its efforts to produce animated adaptations of many beloved games. Over the years, it is easy to see the success of such works. From League of Legends’ own movies to the resounding success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners or The Last of Us Part 2 – animated and television versions adapted from famous game projects. And gamers are probably left wanting more.
Mass Effect
The original trilogy from EA and developer BioWare, Mass Effect is one of the greatest sci-fi game projects ever developed. There have been many opinions that Mass Effect deserves its own film adaptation project, but currently, Netflix is still relatively vague about the project’s potential.
The three Mass Effect games are widely known for their engaging storytelling, diverse cast of characters, and way of building a large but reasonable open world down to every detail. The branching of the stories also creates a very interesting perspective and that is also the reason, Mass Effect is receiving a lot of attention for an adaptation project.
Hades
Hades is already considered a phenomenon of 2020 and became an extremely “addictive” game at the time of its launch. Combining a storytelling style with fast-paced gameplay, Hades takes players to thoroughly experience the journey of the main character Zagreus – the son of Hades trying to escape his father’s Hell and find his way to Mount Olympus.
There are all the necessary elements to be adapted into an excellent animated film, so it’s no wonder that Hades is being noticed by many producers.
Bloodborne
The huge amount of lore and knowledge added to FromSoftware’s Soulslike games always makes every game project of this publisher have many advantages in being adapted into cartoons or movies. Bloodborne is no exception.
With a somewhat dark gothic art style, Bloodborne also benefited a lot when a somewhat similar game, Castlevania, was adapted into animation before and achieved a lot of success.
