According to the Audit Bureau of Circulation in India, which checks the readership of member publications, The Hindu is among the top 10 most read publications in India, circulating more than 1 million copies a day (2019 ). It is not uncommon for anime to appear in Japanese newspapers. Yomiuri Shimbun, considered one of Japan's and the world's largest newspapers recently congratulated My Hero AcadeKaren for selling 100 million copies. Similarly, the release of Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 25 saw fellow newspaper giant Asahi Shimbun launch a Sukuna-themed front page, while Gojo introduced Yomiuri's version in a joint collaboration.
However, the international exposure in The Hindu is testament to anime's global appeal. Released on Crunchyroll, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End appears to be one of the big anime ambassadors of 2023 and 2024 in India; Crunchyroll CEO Rahul Purini recently told Forbes Japan that they saw huge potential there after officially entering India in 2022.
Although it has not been announced yet, many people expect Frieren: Beyond Journey's End to return soon, following information revealed from the anime's official PR account. The success of the anime, which doubled manga sales, makes it almost possible for anime to make a comeback.
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is directed by Keiichiro Saito, written by Tomohiro Suzuki, and has music by Evan Call. Anime Corner had the pleasure of interviewing Call about his beginnings, inspirations, and career ahead of Frieren's premiere. Crunchyroll describes the series:
