Japanese entertainment news website Cinema Today reported on Bunka Tsūshinsha’s top 10 highest-grossing domestic and foreign films of 2023 on Sunday.
The domestic slate includes six anime films, two live-action films based on manga, and one Godzilla film. Listings and earnings are updated as of December 24 and are only partially estimated.
This list includes gross earnings even for movies opening in 2022, such as The First Slam Dunk (opening December 3, 2022). The film hadn’t made enough money to crack last year’s top 10 by the time those lists were published.
