Elusive Samurai releases new English-subtitled anime episodes every Saturday for streaming on Crunchyroll for viewers outside of Japan. Episode #10 will be released on Saturday, September 14, 2024, 9:00 AM PDT (12:00 PM EDT). Additionally, Crunchyroll's summer 2024 anime lineup recently updated viewers to let them know that they can enjoy the English dub of this anime, with episode #6 of the dub available on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 12:30 PM PDT (3:30 PM EDT).
The official website of Elusive Samurai shows a chapter aired “on hiatus” on September 7, 2024 instead of releasing episode #10 immediately. It will recap episodes #1-9 with narration by Yuichi Nakamura, who plays Yorishige Suwa. What happened in episode 9 of The Elusive Samurai?
Shokan didn't know what hit him.
With Ayako and Kojiro luring Shokan into Tokiyuki's hideout in episode #8 of The Elusive Samurai, episode #9 is a bloody continuation of these events with Prince Hojo's scouting force repelling Shokan's attack. Tokiyuki begins a deadly duel with Shokan despite Shokan having a huge advantage in armor. Ayako and Kojiro dealt with another opponent, and Fubuki single-handedly repelled another attacker. However, with Shokan forces eager to cause chaos by causing civilian casualties, this battle would not be without cost for both sides.
For Ayako and Kojiro, this war is meant to be a testing ground for them as Tokiyuki's retainers. They need to prepare for the upcoming battles while claiming the lord's name when they win. Fubuki sees potential in the young lord, still unaware of his true identity, and easily defeats his opponent. Tokiyuki, despite being intimidated by an opponent with the physical strength of Shokan, take advantage of the gaps in your opponent's armor, specifically the underside of his sword arm.causing significant blood loss before the main event.
The rest of the fight between Tokiyuki and Shokan is a dizzying, joyous, frenzied ride as the young prince runs around Shokan, helplessly flailing his arms at the young lord trapped inside. All the while, he continues to bleed out until he passes out. The experience is conveyed as a blade of compassion turned into hell on earth, described as the Demon Heart Buddha Blade and is a new elusive technique developed by Tokiyuki. Sadamune's reinforcements rescue Shokan, while Yorishige saves the day by arriving with the Suwa army to rescue Tokiyuki and strengthen the territory's defenses.

As The Elusive Samurai episode 10 seems to be preparing to adapt the events of chapter 24 and beyond, The focus will shift to Yorishige regaining confidence in his ability to predict the future. This includes sending Tokiyuki on various errands that seem suspiciously to satisfy the priest's appetite. However, his main request is water from the sacred spring at Mount Moriya. While Tokiyuki doubts whether this will actually cure Yorishige's illness and whether the priest can actually predict the future, he complies and in doing so, he meets Shizuku.
The Elusive Samurai likes to point out many historical insights. This scene discusses how official documents record strange or even mystical events as fact, with the era depicted in the series being one of the last to feature such wild claims.
The scene likely depicted in The Elusive Samurai episode 10 will be definitely one of the best anime serieswith Shizuku communicating with the spirit beasts at the shrine. This includes the unexpected appearance of Botan, the wild boar beast encountered in episode #3, as it depicts one of the last historical moments when claims of the supernatural like this were uncritically accepted.
