Anime rom-com fans can now watch The Dreaming Boy Is a Realist exclusively on HIDIVE.
The popular streaming company announced the aforementioned series and some other anime during their Industry Workshop at Anime Expo 2023. At the event, hosts Star Butler and Jacki Jing (Netflix’s The Circle) ) confirmed HIDIVE’s acquisition of The Dreaming Boy Is a Realist, in addition to Oshi no Ko Part 2, Spy Classroom Part 2, and Danger in My Heart Part 2. The panel ended with a premiere at The United States of the Level 1 Demon Lord and Kadokawa’s One-Room Hero, made their official HIDIVE debut on July 3, along with Dream Boy as a realist.
What is the dream boy who is a realist?
The Dream Boy is a Realist that began as a light novel series written by Okemaru and illustrated by Saba Mizore. It was originally serialized on the self-published website, Shosetsuka ni Naro in December 2018. The romantic comedy revolves around a teenage boy named Wataru Sojou who has deep feelings for his classmate. I, Aika Natsukawa. Although he has never approached her in real life, he constantly fantasizes about when they will both confess their feelings for each other.
However, one day, Wataru realizes that he and Aika may not be compatible as a couple, and he begins to distance himself from her. This left Aika, who was secretly reciprocating her feelings, extremely tense and confused as she wondered what had changed. In the future, the two try to navigate the relationship, although each believes their love is unrequited.
Studio Gokumi (A-Channel) and AXsiZ (Kinmoza the Movie – Thank You!) have co-produced The Dreaming Boy Is a Realist. Kazuomi Koga, who previously served as Episode Director for Re:Zero – Beginning of Life in Another World, directed the series. Michiko Yokote (Bleach, Gintama) is in charge of Series Composition. Masaru Koseki (Kinmoza the Movie – Thank You!) served as the series’ Character Designer, retooling Mizore’s original designs for the animation. Ryohei Sataka (Classroom of the Elite II) composed the music for the series with production assistance from Studio Pony Canyon (Attack on Titan.)
In addition to the subtitled works joining HIDIVE’s lineup, the company has also purchased the rights to several Dubcasts slated for release later this year. The Dangers in My Heart Season 1 and the third KAIJI: Ultimate Survivor Arc will have their respective English dubs coming out this summer. The English version of The Eminence in Shadow Season 2 will join the voice cast for Fall 2023, becoming the first in HIDIVE’s simulated broadcast series to feature both subtitles and voiceovers. .
