Eiichiro Oda may be introducing a new element to the world of One Piece, “Demons,” and there are some hints provided through the recent transformation of Saturn.
Warning! This article discusses One Piece manga spoilers!
The One Piece manga is currently in the middle of the Egghead Island arc, where the Straw Hats almost rescued Dr. Vegapunk until Saint Saturn arrived.
Several hidden aspects related to evil can be observed in Saturn’s newly transformed body, from the magic circle he appears in to his new appearance. All of these elements seem to be interconnected with the concept of the devil.
Today, we will shed light on these changes in Saint Saturn and explore their potential connection to evil.
It’s important to note that the One Piece manga has not officially confirmed the existence of demons. These are just some readers’ speculations.
Appearance of Saturn’s Black Magic Circle
Black magic circles are the first thing that comes to mind when you think about ghosts or demons. In various literature, this black magic circle is used to summon demons.
Saint Saturn emerges from this black magic circle to make his way to Egghead Island, something that has never happened before in the One Piece series.
The magic circle illustrated in One Piece chapter 1094 is called the Pentagram and its modern meaning associates it with demons and devil worshipers.
This connection hints at the possibility of demons entering the world of One Piece World, and Saturn could be the first evil we’ve ever seen.
While it is very possible that Saturn is responsible for this circle, some fans speculate that the World Leader, Imu, may have played a role in its creation, possibly being the catalyst for the transformation of Saturn.
This theory gets support from Chapter 1085, where Gorosei’s silhouette hinted at the elder’s transformation. Imu’s presence may have been the reason he was able to use their powers even before the Gorosei’s transformation occurred.
The true purpose of the circle is unknown, as it could serve as a means of transportation for Saturn or even serve as a facilitator for his transformation.
This magic circle is just the beginning of the appearance of Saint Saturn, and more clues can be found about Saturn’s true transformation, reflecting the appearance of a true demon.

Is Saint Saturn the same as the devil?
When Saint Saturn appears in his newly transformed appearance, the first similarity readers notice is his horns and how they resemble those of the devil.
His transformation includes spider-like legs and prominent horns on his head. However, this new appearance doesn’t just resemble a demon; it also shares similarities with the Japanese Yokai known as Ushi-Oni.
In Japan’s Wakayama Prefecture, a local legend tells us of the existence of the Ushi-Oni, a beast that lives in the mountains.
According to this legend, anyone who looks into Ushi-Oni’s eyes cannot avoid their gaze, which is a reference to the incident involving a low-ranking Marine’s head exploding at the sight of Saturn.
Another similarity that Saint Saturn may have with the devil are the flame-like patterns on his legs, along with his fiery appearance when he emerges from the black magic circle.
Fire is the only element of the five elements commonly associated with the devil, and this may again link Saint Saturn’s new appearance to the devil.
The cloud-shaped scarf around his neck resembles Luffy’s scarf, which was seen on Luffy when he first transformed into Gear 5.
This scarf may provide clues about Saturn’s devil fruit awakening and its similarity to a devil that may be more dangerous than a regular devil fruit awakening.

Other theories about evil in One Piece
It’s interesting to know that the Gorosei may possess original Devil Fruits, which could explain their more demonic appearance.
After all, most Devil Fruits are not directly related to demons. If these devil-like shapes were the first Devil Fruits, then it could shed some light on why the name’Devil Fruit’ was attached to them.
Saturn is the first of the Gorosei to appear as a demon-like shapeshifter. His appearance reinforces the idea behind this theory.
It is possible that other Gorosei may have their own original devil fruit, which could give them a demonic appearance similar to Saturn.
If these Devil Fruits are considered original, then surely the power contained in them will be greater than other Devil Fruits.
Introducing demons in the world of One Piece is definitely a possibility since we already have many different races, including anime-human hybrids, giants, dwarfs, zombies, humans machines and mermaids.
Eiichiro Oda’s decision to introduce demons into the world of One Piece may be a possibility. What do you think about Gorosei’s transformation? Could he be a real demon? Let us know your opinion in the comments section.
