On December 21, the Florida Film Critics Circle (FCC) announced the winners of their 2024 awards, and The Boy and the Heron won Best Picture. The film is nominated for Best Foreign Language Film of the Year and Best Animated Film along with with Makoto Shinkai’s Suzume. The film First Slam Dunk was also nominated for a Technical Achievement Award.
The Boy and Heron is Hayao Miyazaki’s latest film. It was animated by Studio Ghibli. The film premiered in Japan in July this year and made its international debut at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival. The film was shown in theaters in North America in both subtitled and dubbed versions. He said on December 8. The film was also recently nominated for Best Original Score for Joe Hisashi and Best Animated Feature alongside Makoto Shinkai’s Suzume for the Golden Globe Awards. The film is also in the running for the 96th Academy Award for Best Music (Original Score).
