2023 has been a great year for opening anime series but its best anime series so far isn’t really for a new movie it’s for by Kaguya-sama movie. This may seem surprising given that some excellent OP shows like Hell’s Paradise and Vinland Saga have come up. But unfortunately for them, Kaguya-sama: Love is War -The First Kiss That Never Ends- OP completely outclasses them.
The new OP created to broadcast the wonderful series Kaguya-sama divides it into individual episodes. The new opening has movie-level animation quality, flowing seamlessly from scene to scene with the smooth vocals of Masayuki Suzuki and Reni Takagi singing “Love is Show.” The prologue somehow mentions pretty much every character in the series while also providing callbacks for many iconic jokes and moments. It even animates some manga-only moments, providing loads of Easter Eggs for die-hard fans. Perhaps the best moment, however, is the beautiful dance of Kaguya and Shirogane, the two romantic protagonists. The OP’s chaos and beauty then closes when Kaguya closes an album about her school days, revealing the entire sequence to be her memories and interpretations of her first love.
Kaguya-sama made the best OP of 2023 for an old movie
The breathtaking quality of this opening is not surprising as A1 Pictures, the studio that produced the Kaguya-sama anime, has taken great care of the series. Each of the previous OPs was also pretty solid and used the same singer Masayuki Suzuki to provide a sense of connection. The show has also managed to create special EDs for certain episodes, with one of them being one of the best anime EDs of 2022. From all of this, it’s clear the production staff cares deeply about this story and show, enough to make an OP supposedly enhanced its source material.
It is this elevation and celebration of Kaguya-sama anime and manga that has made this OP the best work of the year so far. While there have been many other incredible openings released over the months, none of them transcend the individual seasons they open to tie together every aspect of their performance. become great. While some like Hell’s Paradise OP can be said to be better animator or director, the animation of new OP Kaguya-sama is still great enough to surpass most other prologues released during the year. now. These factors combined make it easily the best OP of the year.
Kaguya-sama’s new OP is a nice celebration of the show
Of course as the year goes on, the new series is likely to surpass this OP, especially with some of the most anticipated anime coming out later this year. After all, Studio Mappa released some of the other best OPs this year and they’re producing Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, which has a lot of hype behind it. But even if this happens, the new Kaguya-sama The OP will remain an impressive testament to how much their production team cares about their series, especially when they’ve crafted such a good opening to what is essentially a series. set of replays.
