While fans have been waiting with all their hearts for this episode, the author of this series also added his twist by apologizing to the anime studio that produced his favorite series.
On November 1, 2023, Hajime Isayama, the creator of Attack on Titan, sent a message to the production team of his anime adaptation of the manga at MAPPA Studios.
This message is more like an apology letter from Isayama. The official Attack on Titan X (formerly Twitter) account shared Isayama’s message as follows:
In this tweet, Isayama begins by thanking his fans for sticking with the series for ten long years. He then delved into Attack on Titan’s controversial ending.
He told how he had trouble drawing the climax of Attack on Titan, thinking that MAPPA animating the climax might have been equally problematic.
So he apologized to the animation studio twice but expressed curiosity about how this climax would play out in the anime.
He ended his message by saying that he had drawn some rough sketches for the final chapter of the Attack on Titan anime. So everyone should watch until the last episode.
Hajime Isayama and his apology
In the past, Isayama has repeatedly apologized to his fans for the unsatisfactory ending of the Attack on Titan series. He also felt sorry for letting his beloved manga reach such a controversial climax.
He even apologized to former studio MAPPA for production issues after the Attack on Titan project was briefly transferred to them by Wit Studio.
This shows how sensitive Isayama is to criticism. All he wants is for fans to be able to enjoy what he draws, but due to fans’ constant hate comments, he can’t stop apologizing at the moment.
Isayama’s rough sketches
As the author himself revealed, some drafts will be included later in the final episode of Attack on Titan. But don’t get your hopes up because this won’t be an additional animated story.
These rough sketches are most likely some piece of art drawn by Isayama, which will be included in the ending song of this episode.
Attack on Titan’s controversial ending (Spoilers)
The attack on the Titan ends with Mikasa entering the Founding Titan’s mouth, decapitating Eren and embracing his lips as the Rumble stops forever.
A similar intimate scene is also about to happen in chapter 50 as revealed by the editors of Attack on Titan.
In this chapter, when Eren first activates his Titan powers, an intimate scene is said to occur where Mikasa kisses Eren. However, Isayama was too shy to draw this scene at that time.
So it’s very possible that he expressed similar thoughts in this apology message.
