The author of the Hyperinflation manga, Kyu Sumiyoshi, asked fans to buy the series after it received the title of the most anticipated anime adaptation of 2023.
Hyperinflation, reported by Anime Senpai, recently climbed to the top spot in Japan’s sixth annual online poll “Manga We Want to Watch Animation”. However, Sumiyoshi, the series’ author, used the platform to inform fans that the best way to support his work is to buy copies of his books, as he hasn’t receive any anime adaptation offers at this time. The article notes that the chart is Japanese-specific, meaning that many of its titles have yet to receive English translations, including Sumiyoshi’s series.
Organized by Anime Japan, this annual poll is often a trendsetter for future anime projects. The 2020 winner, Komi Can’t Communicate, has gone on to produce a hit anime series that has been a hit on Netflix. Many other titles, such as Kaiju No. 8, Oshi no Ko, and the highly anticipated Solo Leveling, have ranked in the top 10 and are currently awaiting a high-profile adaptation. The competition also placed The Ramparts of Ice (Kocha Agasawa) in second place and Nito to Tazuka no Nichijo (Satoutoshio) in third place. Other top-rated manga include A Hidden Side to my Crush, Who Made Me a Princess, Be my Worst Nightmare!, Junket Bank, etc.
What is hyperinflation?
Hyperinflation follows a boy named Luke who lives in a dark fantasy world where wealth means everything. His life is a struggle, as the Empire’s slave hunt kills his parents and his sister is about to be auctioned off. However, he develops the ability to generate money from his body, giving him a chance to save his sister by bribing her. Unfortunately, this power comes with setbacks, with the series following his attempt to free himself, his sister, and his people through these worthwhile abilities.
Shōnen Jump serializes Hyperinflation and is available to read for free on Jump+, an online service that also includes titles like Spy x Family, Chainsaw Man, and Dandadan. Additionally, five volumes of the anthology manga are currently available for purchase in Japan. However, Hyperinflation does not have an English translation at the time of this writing.
The release dates of the upcoming anime projects based on the manga included in this article are as follows: Kaiju No. 8 – 2024, Oshi no Ko – 12 April 2023 and Solo Leveling – winter 2024.
