Because this is a story about pirates, A piece There’s also a great variety of pirate ships. These ships often receive many of the same details and innovations that mangaka Eiichiro Oda put into his character designs. This gives them a charm and sophistication that other films lack and makes ranking them based on coolness a meaningful task.
Of course, before rating these ships, some ground rules must be established about what qualifies as a ship. This may seem silly, but the variety of containers in One Piece makes this an important thing to clarify. For the purposes of this list, vessels will not need to limit their surface mobility, allowing vehicles such as submarines and airships to qualify. However, these ships must actually be able to move freely from one location to another, barring the inclusion of things like Ocean liners, which can only travel on fixed railways even though Built by a shipwright. With these basic rules in mind, here are the ten most interesting ships in One Piece.
10 Whitebeard’s Moby Dick
Whitebeard’s ship Moby Dick is as big as its name suggests. It also looks like a giant whale, which makes it adorable. While this may not be as fearsome as one would imagine a Yonko ship to be, Whitebeard is also one of the more noble Yonko raising a large family through his crew and in general does not terrorize the people under his command like Big Mom and Kaido. Regardless of whether it’s scary or not, a ship shaped like a giant whale is still incredibly cool and easily earns a spot on this list.
Victoria Punk of 9 children
Kid’s ship may have been destroyed during the confrontation with Shanks, but it was cool for the brief time it appeared. Named the Victoria Punk after a childhood friend of Kid and Killer, the ship features a sinister skull on the bow that matches Kid’s edgier personality. The ship is no longer important to the story when compared to many of the other ships on this list since Kid was completely crushed by Shanks, but based on its awesome design, it’s still one of the coolest ships. The best in the series.
8. Sky Ark Maxim by Enel
Enel’s skyship Maxim may have been built to sail the air instead of the sea, but this makes it no less cool. The airships in One Piece are actually shaped like the ships that most pirates use to go to sea, and Maxim is no exception. Equipped with a giant golden head that represents Enel’s entire ego, this ship is the perfect choice for the super villain of the Skypiea arc. What makes the ship even more impressive despite its size and appearance is that it actually works, successfully managing to send Enel to the moon as he intended.
7 Baration
Baratie is a floating restaurant captained by pirate Zeff and shaped like a giant fish. The idea of a floating restaurant in the middle of the ocean is a completely strange idea that fits naturally into the world of One Piece. While its fish-shaped design may not look as cool as many of the other ships on this list, it makes it completely unique and that gives it the coolness that many of the more standard ships on the list have. This book is not available. Its significance to existence as shown in Sanji’s backstory also gives it a nobility that many other vessels on this list lack.
6 Laws of Extreme Path
Law’s submarine makes this list because it is completely unique compared to other pirate ships in the series. Named the Polar Tang, this submarine is said to be a bit more technologically advanced than some of the other ships in the series, containing life support units that helped Luffy survive the fierce battle in Marineford. This fits Law’s role as a doctor perfectly and also gives him and his crew a bit of sophistication that many other supernovas lack. Unfortunately, the ship was sunk during Law’s tragic battle with Blackbeard so it may not appear much in the future.
5 songs about Big Mom’s Queen
Big Mom’s ship is the Queen Mama Chanter, a giant ship created by Yonko’s Devil Fruit power. It fits Big Mom’s aesthetic perfectly, featuring a cake behind the head, frosting dripping from the sides, and ice cream cones on the mast. Like Big Mom, Queen Mama Chanter’s cute and childish appearance belies its immense threat. When it first appeared in the Dressrosa arc, it made the Thousand Sunny appear small and insignificant due to its enormous size. Even if Big Mom is dead, it still has the ability to survive like Zeus and can seek revenge if it meets the Thousand Sunny again.
4 Happy trip
This may be a controversial placement for the Straw Hat Pirates’ first ship but unfortunately, it’s not as cool as some of the other ships that appear later on this list. Still, the Going Merry is an incredibly cool ship that doesn’t just house the crew on their journey but actually becomes a part of them. After saving them with the last of their strength on Waters Seven, the crew even gave the ship an incredibly emotional funeral, which was the perfect send-off for the quarrelsome caravan. While the Straw Hats would eventually get a cooler ship, the Merry still holds a special place in the hearts of many One Piece fans.
3 horror tree barks
While the Thriller Bark arc itself may not be the most remembered part of the series, the ship itself is absolutely amazing. Thriller Bark is the largest ship in the One Piece world, commanded by warlord Gecko Moria and used to trap ships that enter it. Thriller Bark is large enough to be an island in its own right, and its spooky beauty sets it apart from any other island in the Grand Line. Its name is also a pun on the real-life ship called the barque which is also quite large.
Mihawk’s 2 Hitsugibune
Unlike most other pirates, Dracule Mihawk does not have a large ship. Instead, he set sail on a small ship named Hitsugibune, which is Japanese for “Coffin Ship.” The ship more closely resembles a raft than a ship, but it has a central mast shaped like one of Mihawk’s nailed swords. It also has two candles on each side to light up the darkness. The ship looks incredibly cool, but what makes it even cooler is that it’s a testament to Mihawk’s skill that he can actually sail the Grand Line with such a ship.
1 Thousand Sunshine
Of course, the coolest ship in One Piece would belong to its main characters, the Straw Hats. After tearfully putting the Going Merry to rest, the new shipwright Franky built them a new ship, the Thousand Sunny, which was much larger and had more features. These features include a powerful air cannon that can launch it forward as well as a Soldier Dock system that includes many smaller crafts that the Straw Hats can use for a variety of purposes. The ship was also made from Adam wood, one of the most valuable materials in the world. All of this easily makes the Thousand Sunny the coolest ship in the series.
Of course, there are still some iconic ships that haven’t been seen in manga and anime. A good example of this is Blackbeard’s ship The Saber of Xebec, which will likely appear later in the series when Blackbeard becomes a more direct threat in the series. But until those ships appear, here are the 10 coolest ships A piece.
