Summary

Anime creators often invest as much time into developing supporting characters as they do the main characters, making fans love the series even more. The spinoff series explores the lives and experiences of supporting characters that will delight fans and provide more insight into their stories and backgrounds.
It’s no exaggeration that many people supporting characters in anime deserve their own spin-off. Despite their limited screen time, these characters are often just as interesting as the main cast. Something as simple as an iconic appearance, setting, or catchphrase can be enough to make fans fall in love with supporting characters. Just as often, they raise interesting questions or create enough intrigue to leave fans wanting more.
One of the best things about anime is that the supporting characters are often loved and cared for as much as the main cast. They aren’t simply random extras in the background; They actively contribute to the vitality and color of the program. When an anime creator invests as much time into a background character as the main character, that dedication shines through and makes fans love the series more than they already do.
10 Kaidou Wars With Dark Reunion Will Bring More Excitement To Saiki’s World
The Disaster Life of Saiki K (2016)
Kaidou Shun is one of the silliest characters in the Saiki K universe, and that’s saying something. He believes that events in the world are controlled by an evil entity called Dark Reunion., and he alone has the power to stop them. He even wears bandages on his arms to block out all the magical power he doesn’t have. A spin-off series in which Kaidou confronts Dark Reunion, whether in reality or in his mind, would make for an extremely funny show. Bonus points if the show still has Kusuo Saiki’s dry commentary.

9. Fukuma is bone-chilling and memorable
Vampires Die Instantly (2021)
The Vampire Dies in No Time is one of the best anime on Crunchyroll, and Fukuma is one of its best characters. As editor of Autumn Books, his life is far different from that of an office worker. His client, Ronaldo, often procrastinates on his vampire hunting autobiography, which is to say Fukuma must take drastic measures to ensure Ronaldo meets the deadline. From wielding an ax to having a threatening aura, Fukuma instilled fear in those around him, especially Ronaldo. A spin-off series about his daily life, or even his obsession with cats, would certainly please fans of the series.

8 Ginoza’s hospital stay was never fully addressed
Psycho-Pass (2012)
Both cold and sensitive, Ginoza Nobuchika is a character that is underrated by Psycho-Pass fans. When his father is killed at the end of Season One and Ginoza’s crime rate skyrockets, he is hospitalized, reappeared in Season Two with a new hairstyle but not much is known about what happened during his quarantine. Given the corrupt nature of the Sibyl System and the alarming emotional state Ginoza is in, a spin-off series about what happens between seasons would answer many burning questions. It’s no surprise that fans of the series appreciate delving into the characters’ psychology, and there’s a lot of Ginoza’s inner self worth exploring.

7 Clow Reed is the most mysterious character in the CLAMP universe
Cardcaptor Sakura (1998)
The collective of comic artists known as CLAMP loves a good crossover, which means the mysterious wizard Clow Reed has appeared in many of their works. Most notably, he is the creator of the Clow Cards that ten-year-old Sakura Kinomoto must grasp in her series of the same name. Not much is known about Clow Reed personally, especially during the time before Sakura when he lived with his creations, Kero and Yue were always arguing. A spin-off series exploring Clow’s ancient past and the dynamic he has with his magical “children” would please CLAMP fans well-versed in the series’ lore.

6 Kikaku is always about three seconds away from a mental breakdown
Life Lessons with Uramichi-Oniisan (2021)
Hanbee Kikaku is the epitome of the overworked millennial. He works in the sales department of a public television company, and although he appears to be emotionally unstable, he is really just passionate about his work. Despite this, Uramichi Omota is still afraid of him, probably because he always designs new stuffed animals of Uramichi in embarrassing outfits during his performances. Exploring Kikaku’s intense work patterns, or even some glimpses into his after-hours life, would add hilarity to one of the best low-stakes anime series around.

5 Ragnar has seen his fair share of drama at court while raising Canute
Vinland Saga (2019)
Many of the Vinland Saga’s characters deserve their own spin-off series, but none quite like the overbearing yet well-meaning Ragnar. Prince Canute’s servant and father, Ragnar witnesses chaos at the Danish court that made Canute timid growing up. A spin-off exploring the royal drama, from Ragnar’s perspective, will have twists and turns to rival Game of Thrones. Seeing Ragnar interact with Canute’s brother Harold and the ruthless king Sweyn would also be fascinating. After his untimely death in Season One, a Ragnar-centric series could be even more traumatic for fans.

2 Shitennou is one of Sailor Moon’s most iconic opponents
Sailor Moon (1992, 2014)
Led by Queen Beryl, the Shitennou (or “Four Heavenly Kings”) are the first opponents to appear in Sailor Moon and arguably the best. Jadeite, Nephrite, Kunzite, and Zoisite all have distinct motivations and personalities. In other words, watching their interactions with each other as well as the Sailor Guardians is an endless joy. Anime fans looking for LGBTQ+ representation can look no further than Kunzite and Zoisite, who are coded as very gay but only in 90s anime. Shitennou is dominant and quite simply mindless wisdom when it comes to supporting characters deserves a spin-off series.

Although Kaworu is controversial, he is often ranked alongside Rei Ayanami and Asuka Langley Soryu as the most popular character in the series. Besides being philosophical and serene in an almost otherworldly way, he is one of the only people who makes Shinji feel loved.
