Episode #22 of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime features Rimuru's long-awaited martial arts tournament, adding some excitement to the quiet period that has made up the latter half of season 3. The matches move along rather quickly, and it's down to the finals, which will be the focus of episode #23. One character who makes a rather surprising showing is Gobta, who makes it to the finals to face the Lightspeed Hero, Masayuki. Masayuki doesn't even draw his sword, winning both matches by default, so the match between Gobta and Masayuki is actually a tiebreaker.
The crowd was very enthusiastic about the event, making the second day of the festival a resounding success. The finals were still ahead, and there was always the opening of the dungeon to look forward to. With two of Rimuru's boss monsters already in the tournament, the dungeon had gained a reputation for being only for the strongest to challenge. Hinata seemed to think that Gobta actually had a chance of winning, but whether she was right or not remained to be seen.

The meeting seems to be interrupted by Elmesia, who might have her own little solution to their dilemma. However, Elmesia has an obvious concern, and it happens to involve Diablo…
Things will pick back up for the finals of the tournament the next morning. Gobta will face Masayuki, but it is still unclear what kind of power Masayuki truly possesses. Everyone from Rimuru to Hakuro are extremely interested in Gobta's victory, and Gobta may have a new trick up his sleeve to help him deal with this legendary hero. But will Gobta's new power be enough to help him win? Knowing the truth about Masayuki's personality, this is truly a battle between two cowards, so anything can happen.
Either way, Rimuru would have to deal with Masayuki himself at some point, and it was better to do it sooner rather than later. Perhaps, like with Hinata, their differences could be resolved in some way other than violence. After all, they had more in common than not, as Outsiders from Japan.
