Normally, new episodes of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime premiere on Crunchyroll on Fridays at 8:30 a.m. Pacific/11:30 a.m. Eastern. However, due to scheduling conflicts in Japan, Episode #18 of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime will actually premiere on Saturday, August 10, 2024. Presumably, the Crunchyroll release will reflect this slight delay in the Japanese release. Due to the short time between the Japanese release and the Crunchyroll release, the episodes will initially only be available in Japanese with subtitles. The English dub is currently about 2 weeks behind the subbed version, so the dub of episode #16 will likely be released that week as well.

The episode opens with a meeting, where Rimuru introduces Mjollmiles to his other assistants, and asks him to draw up an exact schedule for the festival's events, which are now about to begin. Rimuru's schedule is sure to be packed, to say the least, with the large number of events they have planned for important people to attend, including opera performances and lavish banquets, as well as a martial arts tournament in a giant arena and dungeon that will take place on the second day of the festival. Rimuru also learns that the Elven slave trade has been stopped by a figure known as the Hero of Light, Masayuki.
The rest of the episode is spent introducing Masayuki and his allies, and explaining his origins. Masayuki is a high school student who was suddenly transported to this world one day, instead of dying and being reincarnated like Rimuru, or being summoned like many of the Others in the Other World. Masayuki discovers that he has been given a special ability, Chosen One, which allows him to gather allies and bring out their true power. While Soei is under the impression that Masayuki is coming to Tempest to kill Rimuru, it seems that based on Masayuki's behavior, he, like Rimuru, wants to talk things out.

The next episode of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is titled “Digression: Luminus Memories.” This title format suggests that, like episode #48.5, this will be another recap episode, framed from the perspective of Demon Lord Luminus Valentine. As such, it will likely focus heavily on recapping the Saint vs. Monster Arc, the entire plot of Hinata coming to challenge Rimuru and all the deception necessary to force them to fight each other. It’s unclear how far the recap might go, as Luminus has been absent from most of the festival preparations that have made up the recent episodes.
