Tease master Takagi-san's live action film reveals promotional video, stills

The live-action film adaptation of Master Tease Takagi-san has released special promotional videos as well as teaser images. The film is scheduled to hit theaters in Japan on May 31, 2024.

Live action film teases master Takagi-san – 30-second TV commercial

Mei Nagano and Fumiya Takahashi play the main roles of Takagi and Nishikata, respectively. Rikiya Imaizumi will direct the film, with Tomoki Kanazawa, Jun Hagimori and Rikiya Imaizumi writing the script. A live-action adaptation of the series was first confirmed in March 2023, but it wasn’t until November of the same year that it was revealed that the live-action adaptation would go the cinematic route. For this adaptation, the story will follow Takagi and Nishikata’s reunion 10 years after graduating from middle school. It’s worth noting that the film was shot in Shodoshima, the original setting of the manga and anime.

15-second TV series

Teasing Master Takagi-san is a manga series written and illustrated by Soichiro Yamamoto. The story was first published in Monthly Shounen Sunday Mini in June 2013 before being moved to Monthly Shounen Sunday in July 2016. It finally ended in October 2023 after 10 years of release. The manga series also released spin-offs titled Ashita wa Doyobi (2014), Koi ni Koisuru Yukari-chan (2017) and Karakai Jozu no (Moto) Takagi-san (2017). A fourth spin-off titled Karakai Jozu no Nishikata-san is expected to begin in monthly Shonen Sunday in November 2023.

Yen Press licensed the main manga in English, describing the plot as:
Middle school student Nishikata has it out with classmate Takagi–the chronic tease sitting nearby. Day after day, she chased him with all kinds of tricks and jokes. Even when he tries to win her back, she is always one step ahead. But rest assured, it’s just the beginning. He will not give up easily in this battle between cunning and youth!

Tease Master Takagi-san Live-Action Movie – Teaser Visual

The series has been adapted into an anime with three seasons. The first season aired from January to March 2018, the second season aired from July to September 2019, and the third season aired from January to March 2022. It also had an OVA in July 2018 and an animated film adaptation premiered in June 2022.
