Summary
Team Rocket’s disguise as Ash and his friends in the Pokémon XY series successfully ruined Ash’s reputation and isolated him from law enforcement. Their impersonation plan, although flawed, causes more trouble for Ash than any attempt to steal Pikachu. This plan shows the effectiveness of Team Rocket’s disguise and highlights their potential for future success.
Team Rocket rarely achieves success in Pokémon anime, but one of their most effective tricks ever involved using their disguise abilities to make Ash a wanted man across Kalos. By disguising themselves as Ash and his friends, Team Rocket was able to ruin Ash’s reputation before he entered town.
In the episode “Hero – Friend and fake!” from the Pokémon XY series, Team Rocket comes up with a new plan, with James disguised as Ash, Inkay disguised as Pikachu, Jessie disguised as Serena, and Meowth disguised as Bonnie. Now impersonating the heroes, Team Rocket go around stealing things, bullying children, and generally causing mayhem, while introducing themselves as Ash and his friends.
The situation was so bad that when Ash and his gang. actually arrived at the Pokémon Center, Officer Jenny went to talk to them, leaving Clemont (whom Team Rocket did not impersonate) alone.
Team Rocket’s ash disguise gives him the most trouble out of any costume
Team Rocket has disguised itself in many ways over the years; James even successfully impersonated Professor Oak. Although Ash and friends have to disguise themselves most of the time, the disguises are often part of a trap to steal Pikachu, of course, and that’s where these plans usually fail. However, by using their incredible disguise abilities to impersonate Ash, they caused him more trouble than any attempt to steal Pikachu. If they continue with this plan, giving Ash a bad reputation throughout Kalos, isolating Ash and putting Pikachu in a more vulnerable position will be much more effective.
Instead of trying to trick Ash, tricking others into who Ash is is surprisingly powerful, even if their costumes have flaws (as Inkay looks nothing like Pikachu and continues to float around like always ). Of course, ruining Ash’s life in this way would only be a means to an end, as the ultimate goal is still Pikachu, but forcing Ash to stay outside of town and avoid regular law enforcement helping him, like Officer Jenny, would make him a much easier target. In the second half of the episode, they actually disguise themselves as scientists and trick Clemont into helping them create machines to help steal Pikachu.
However, like all of Team Rocket’s plans, this one ultimately ended in failure, when Ash and friends were confronted by their counterparts, at which point Team Rocket dropped their disguises. However, there’s no reason they couldn’t reuse the idea in another town; They disguised themselves and the effect was surprisingly successful in putting Ash at a disadvantage. It turns out that Team Rocket’s disguise abilities are actually quite good, so it’s no wonder Ash and his friends often fall in love with them. Although this plan to disguise himself as Ash ultimately did not end with Pikachu in their possession, it was still one of Team Rocket’s most successful plans in all time. Pokémon cartoon.
