Takara Tomy, the company that manages the Transformers franchise in Japan, has now revealed new entries for its “T-Spark Project.” Featuring special editions based on the company's most popular franchises, a new figure includes a modernized image of the Generation 1 Autobot.
AMT-01 Adamas Machina Rodimus/Rodimus Prime is the first Transformers figure released for the line. Featuring a stylized representation of the character's design from the IDW Transformers comics, this toy is just one of many more planned for the series. These include facing off against the powerful Decepticon Combiner from the same historical era of the franchise.

Project T-Spark reveals new versions of Rodimus Prime and Predaking
Shown at the Shizuoka Hobby Show in Japan, Project T-Spark recreates characters and concepts from various Takara franchises, including Transformers. One example is the new figure for the future Autobot leader, Rodimus Prime, whose aesthetic is based on the IDW Rodimus and the Flame Toys Kuro Kara Kuri Rodimus model kit. His robot mode is thus derived from Generation 1, albeit with more spikes and is much more stylized. Likewise, although he is called Rodimus Prime, his vehicle mode (and Cybertronian sports car) looks more like his previous form, Hot Rod. The fact that the model can transform is also different from the Kuro Kara Kuri Rodimus set, which only has a robot mode.
The Rodimus figure comes with a gun and a hacksaw, paying homage to his appearance in The Transformers: The Movie. In addition to Rodimus, another upcoming figure in the line is Predaking, the combined form of the G1 Predacons. Only concept art of the toy is shown, which resembles his exact design from a specific episode of the 1980s animated series The Transformers. It's unclear whether Predaking will be the only character or a combination of separate Predacons that can transform from robot to beast. It also remains unconfirmed when these figures will be announced or at what price.

2024 is a big year for Transformers
The announcement of the T-Spark characters is just one such reveal for the entire Transformers franchise. The said event also saw Takara display other figures, including the Corvette C7 Optimus Prime toy, part of a crossover with Bingo Sports. Other upcoming toys include Missing Link Bumblebee and Cliffjumper figures (updating their classic G1 toys), a new Transformers: Masterpiece version of God Ginrai that looks like Optimus Prime, and even figures New to the Diaclone toy line.
That series, along with Microchange, gave birth to the Transformers franchise when some of their classic toys were repurposed by Takara and Hasbro into the Autobots and Decepticons. It's part of the franchise's 40th anniversary, with Transformers first launching in 1984 as a toy line, cartoon and comic book series. There will be a planned screening of classic animated episodes on the big screen, and the series will return to cinemas later this year with the release of Transformers One.
