The Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho anime will air in summer 2024. A trailer and images were released following the announcement. Yokohama Animation Laboratory is animating the series.
Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho anime – Teaser Trailer
Kazuya Aiura is directing the film, with Deko Akao composing the film. Taro Ikegami is designing the characters and Ryuichi Takada, Keiichi Hirokawa and Kuniyuki Takahashi are composing the music. The main cast includes:
- Taku Yashiro plays Jinta
- Reina Ueda plays Suzune
- Saori Hayami plays Shirayuki
The Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho anime was first announced by Futabasha in September 2021. The film is based on the light novel series written by Moto’o Nakanishi and illustrated by Tamaki. It was first published on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website between December 2015 and October 2016. Futabasha acquired the title and serialized it from June 2019 to November 2023. Futabashi is also publishing a manga adaptation with illustrations by Yu Satomi.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed both the light novels and the manga series, describing the novel’s plot as follows: For generations, a shrine has existed in the mountain village of Kadono, and for each generation , the shrine had an Itsukihime—a shrine maiden—and the girl had her guardian. During the Edo period, a young man named Jinta protected the town and Itsukihime. When he confronts a strange demon in the nearby forest, it tells him that in the distant future, the Demon God will threaten everyone, everywhere, and it proclaims the rise to power of The Demon God originates from this very time and place, in the village of Kadono. So begins the centuries-long journey of a possessed man, hunting through time to seek justice for what he has lost and find a reason to keep fighting.
