Sword Art OnlineThe popular spin-off series of Gun Gale Online has finally revealed the exact release date for its highly anticipated second season. First announced in July 2023 at the 30th Dengeki Bunko Summer Festival, Gun Gale Online will return with season 2 this fall, more than six years after the first season aired.
An announcement on X from the anime's official account has revealed that season 2 of Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online will be released in Japan on Wednesday,October 4, 2024, 11:00 PM Japan Standard Time (JST). The initial announcement was made during the Aniplex x Kadokawa Anime Festival livestream on Friday.
Streaming and simulcast information for the upcoming season has yet to be announced, although the first season, which consists of 13 episodes, is available on Crunchyroll. The exact episode count for season 2 has also not been revealed, but will likely be announced sooner or later on the anime's official website or social media channels.

Based on the light novels by Keiichi Sigsawa and Kouhaku Kuroboshi, Gun Gale Online is a spin-off series set in the same world as Reki Kawahara's Sword Art Online. The first season of Gun Gale Online aired in April 2018 and was an instant hit both in and outside of Japan, leading to considerable anticipation for season 2.
While the first season was produced by Studio 3Hz, the second season of Gale Gun Online will be produced by A-1 Pictures, which has recently become known for hit series like Solo Leveling, Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines, and Mashle: Magic and Muscles.
