Undead Unluck – 11 [Rio de Janeiro]
First we have Undead Unluck again. This isn’t surprising, the series has been on a high since Spoil, maybe even Gina depending on how you look at it. And while this week is a bit slower than last week, the rest of the season is also a long way behind. As for what actually happened, there’s a lot of setup for a sequel with little romantic progression. So many little moments with Andy and Fuko, from being on the beach to choosing beautiful outfits. It’s great to see Andy helping Fuko feel more confident in herself, pushing her to spread her wings a little but not forcing her to leave her comfort zone. Yes, some of the ecchi jokes haven’t completely disappeared, but they’ve been tinged with something more… wholesome now I feel. That combined with their conversation about what it means to be a neg, the options available to people like them, and their desire to fight back against the bad hand they’ve been dealt, has creating an emotionally compelling episode. They are finding their own reasons for what they do, which will be very important if they want to fight God. Additionally, we meet some of the villains in this new installment, Unrepair as well as three other characters. We don’t know much about them yet, but that’s okay, they will be more important. Now, the important thing is that at least one person seems to be a dangerous opponent even for Andy, meaning we have something to look forward to!
Pharmacy diary – 10 [Em yêu]
This is a cute, politically charged episode of Apothecary’s Diary. Lots of espionage, espionage and sexual harassment. I say that last bit lovingly, because I really like Jinshi and Mao Mao’s dynamic. His constant teasing, she tried her best to ignore it, made him even more curious. Mixing in some funny situations like trying to get her to eat honey from his hand, the other maids know exactly what’s going on and throw Mao Mao out to get her to talk to him , Gaoshun tried his best to restrain both of them. So cute! Easily my favorite part of the show. As for the actual story, like I said, it’s a lot of royal intrigue. Lishu, the young consort, was denied a visit because the emperor preferred “ripe” fruit, which was… less creepy than the alternative I suppose? At the same time, Lishu’s maids are actively bullying and abusing her, making her distrustful of outsiders so Lishu has to depend on them, while belittling her and making life more difficult. Contrast this with the professional behavior of Ah-Duo, the Pure Consort’s maids, and it paints a really rough picture of the state of the Harem. On top of that, there are also some strange things going on with Mao Mao’s father giving birth to a child, who appears to be the Emperor’s brother. Makes sense, he seems extremely qualified to live in the slums. However, the interesting thing is that I have my doubts about exactly who that younger brother is. That’s right, I think it’s Jinshi. He looks exactly like Ah-Duo, with her androgynous beauty, and that explains his high position in the palace, as well as the support shown to him, even though he still young. Why they hid it I don’t know, but I think it will come out later. That or I’m extremely lost and Ah-Duo is not his mother at all. However, I clearly feel that they have similar faces.
Frieden – 15 [Smells Like Trouble]

This was the nice relaxing ending I was looking for. The first half with Yor, Loid and Anya hanging out on the island? Do things as a family from surfing to diving to the zoo? I really like it, it’s very healthy. And it ends with Loid taking Yor and Anya’s bride back to the boat? Cute cherry on top. This feels earned, in a way that many of SpyXFamiliy’s other family moments don’t. As for the other half of the episode, going back to school or working with our different actors, this was fine. I’m not happy at all to see Yuuri and his siscon bullshit again, but what can you do. Sylvia is still hot and the DaKarenn/Anya interactions continue to be the best parts of the school scene. There are some solid jokes here, such as the three different internal perspectives on lying trying to convince Anya that lying will do much good when in fact they say otherwise. That’s so funny! Overall, cute and wholesome, pleasant and relaxing after a great Yor sign, a bit of a letdown in the second half.
Shangri-La Frontier – 11 [The Glimmer of Truth]
Shangri-La has this going as it tries to combine serious fantasy world-building with casual MMO-RPG fun. In some ways it works, you need a story in your game to get invested and I certainly don’t want to get immersed in the game. Final Fantasy 14: Shadowbringers is one of my favorite fantasy stories in a long time, and that’s exactly the type of MMO story Shangri-La is going for here. But sometimes it feels like the pacing of the scenes, the way the two work together, isn’t quite there. Like jumping between Vash’s serious RP lamenting an old friend cursed with an immortal body, looking forward to the day someone gives him a “good night’s sleep”, only for Sunraku to appear for a moment of gamers about uniform progression. Personally, these are fine, Shangri-La legitimately gave me things that required stat fun, as did the fact that he was late to the meeting. It’s just that sometimes the fun MMO humor interrupts the legitimately serious fantasy world-building. Not a huge deal, but I hope Shangri-La can find a better balance between the two as the series and author mature and go deeper into the story. Outside of that, some fun, interesting stuff. His weapons seem awesome, did I mention the stat requirements are fun. I would have liked Pencil and Katso to appear more and actually join the cast, it’s great that Sunraku has a more hardcore gamer friend to join in with. Additionally, we stan the Pencil’s side window. The most beautiful character design.
Goblin Slayer S2 – 11 [The Princess’s Ordeal]
I’m afraid this wasn’t a very exciting episode. Our group made their way through the dungeon, facing off against over 20 goblins and a goblin priest without any difficulty, actually getting them out of potential danger. Compare this to the battles in part one, where Goblin Slayer only pulled off big tricks such as gate rolls to win tough battles, or he rallied the entire adventurer guild to against a group of warriors of about 100 people. That danger is effectively absent, making the goblins feel like the fodder that everyone in this world thinks they are, which takes away from Goblin Slayer’s core premise that no, there is enough of these things, let them sit around scheming long enough, and they will drive you crazy. Well what is this? “Damn them” where? Hell, Goblin Slayer even unintentionally helped the group of Heroes by releasing goblins into their fight, causing the blob monster to absorb something weak and stupid, reducing its own power against them. . It feels like Goblin Slayer is becoming more of a traditional power fantasy adventure story and less of the fun of AD&D 1.0 “You can die while creating a character” that made the first part so interesting, regardless accept the sharper trend. That’s a shame in my book.
