A new trailer and visuals have been released for the upcoming anime film The Imaginary. The film will hit theaters in Japan on December 15, 2023, and globally sometime in 2024.
The trailer highlights some interesting scenes from the film, while the latest image introduces the imaginary friend character, Rudger.

The film’s main theme song “Nothing’s Impossible” was also revealed in the trailer, performed by musical duo A Great Big World, featuring singer Rachel Dia.
The film is being directed by Yoshiyuki Momose, who directed the 2019 anime film Ni no Kuni and served as a character designer for the video game Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom. Momose has previously worked on several Studio Ghibli films such as Porco Rosso, Pom Poko, Whisper of the Heart and Princess Mononoke. Studio Ponoc is an animation production company.

Yoshiaki Nishimura is the film’s producer, having previously produced Mary and The Witch’s Flower and the first episode of Modest Heroes: Ponoc Short Films Theater.

The Imaginary is based on the 2014 novel of the same name by AF Harrold and Emily Gravett. The film was originally scheduled to release in summer 2022 but was delayed to around March 2022.
