Spy x Family has released a new promotional video highlighting the popular “Cruise Adventure” arc of the series — a long-time favorite among manga readers.
Featured on Toho Animation’s YouTube channel, the two-minute PV teases some of the intense action that awaits fans in future episodes. In the “Cruise Adventure” section, Yor accepts a special mission in which she must protect a client from a group of elite assassins while aboard the famous “Princess Lorelei.” However, the situation becomes more complicated when Loid and Anya join her after winning their own cruise tickets. The first episode of this season will premiere on November 4.
After sharing the PV on the main Spy x Family subreddit, fans shared their collective excitement for “Cruise Adventure” while also highlighting standout moments from the film’s series of action scenes. Humorously calling Yor “Murder Mama,” a Redditor named u_scruffy_Nerfherder applauded how the trailer included the scene of “a guy having his skull nailed to a wall” from the original manga. Many fans seem to consider “Cruise Adventure” one of the series’ best storylines and their all-time favorite. At the time of writing, the thread’s top comment comes from a Redditor named Huge-Abbreviations-6, whose announcement simply reads “FINAL.”
Based on the popular manga by Tatsuya Endo, Spy x Family chronicles the adventures of Loid (aka Agent Twilight), Yor, and Anya Forger, who are brought together as part of Loid’s mission to infiltrate the prestigious Eden Academy, an establishment frequented by an elusive politician named Donovan Desmond. By having Anya attend the school as a normal student, Loid has the opportunity to form a relationship with Desmond that could prevent the outbreak of war. Unbeknownst to Twilight, Anya is also a psychic who enthusiastically shares her desire for world peace. Meanwhile, Yor moonlights as a high-level assassin while disguised as an ordinary housewife and mother.
The “Cruise Adventure” installment isn’t the only franchise development that Spy x Family fans have to look forward to, as the first film in the series is currently being produced by CloverWorks and Wit Studio. Spy x Family Code: White asks the Forger family to come up with a plan to help Anya win her first cooking competition at Eden. In the process, the trio set off a chain of events that could potentially threaten world peace if left unchecked. The film will open theatrically in Japan on December 22. The franchise’s first video game adaptation, titled Spy x Anya: Operation Memories, is also in the works and expected released outside Japan in 2024.
Spy x Family is available on Hulu and Crunchyroll. The manga is available in English on VIZ Media.
