If there is any criticism directed towards Spice and Wolf: A Merchant Meets a Wise Wolfthat is, it doesn't do enough to differentiate itself from the original 2008 anime. While the updated visuals and animation are great, every episode of the new series largely follows the same path as the original series' corresponding episode, all of which defeats the purpose of a remake in the first place.
