Spice and Wolf Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf Episode 19 left me feeling stunned after a long time watching a long-lasting romance. Let's recap what happened in episode 19.
Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf Episode 18 Summary
In this episode, Lawrence finds himself more desperate than ever as he is faced with a dire situation. He needs to secure a large amount of pyrite in a very short time, but most people have already stockpiled their own supplies, leaving him with very few options. With no other choice, Lawrence decides to go the illegal route to get pyrite.
His only hope lies with Dian, a lone alchemist shunned by many for her profession. Lawrence knows that Dian may have the pyrite he needs, but first he must convince Batos to go through with his risky plan. Despite the danger, Batos agrees, understanding that Lawrence's motives are not solely profit-driven.
However, Lawrence's troubles did not end there. When he finally went to see Dian, she informed him that another buyer had requested the pyrite he needed. Although Dian promised to negotiate with the other customer, she could not guarantee anything.
Lawrence then meets his friend Marc, who helps him realize the mistakes he has made in recent days. Marc gently criticizes him, causing Lawrence to admit his stubbornness and wrong decisions.
Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf Episode 19 Review and Recap
This episode quickly became my all-time favorite as we finally got to see our couple overcome their barriers and be honest with each other. The situation wasn’t positive from the start as tension was running high. Lawrence was on edge as he could feel things slipping away.
To win the bid, he must somehow crash the pyrite market so that Amati cannot profit and win Holo. But he does not have enough pyrite in his arsenal to sell at the right time and crash the market at the optimal moment. For his plan to succeed, he must get more pyrite from Dian, but that seems impossible because no one from her side is coming forward. Thus begins a tense battle of wits and patience between Lawrence and the market.
This part is very tense because you never know what will happen in the end. Lawrence himself is very negative about the whole thing because he feels that Holo is more inclined towards Amati than him. This is because Lawrence feels like he is fighting a losing battle and has to try his best to win. But what he doesn’t know is that Holo loves him as well as being attracted to her.
He then realizes that he should never have doubted Holo's faith and believed in her. But the whole contract with Amati pushed him down a path of egotism that made him lose faith in his companion. How they overcome their differences and eventually accept each other is something you have to witness.
The part where we learn more about Dian and her past is also an unexpected aspect that gives us more context about the story. the life of the Pagan gods. Even though her past may be a sad one, it still gives hope to our couple.
Verdict
I loved today's episode and the pure passion we saw between our couple. Holo and Lawrence were truly made for each other because they both understood each other and even after their differences were able to come back to each other without fail.
