When it comes to anime, the effort put into making a series can be herculean. With the fierce competition of the anime industry, success requires nothing more than dedication. The team behind Solo Leveling demonstrates this commitment, with outstanding stories of sacrifice during production.
Solo Leveling director Shunsuke Nakashige recently took to social media to express his gratitude to fans as season one ended. Amid celebrating the anime's success, Nakashige revealed a traumatic experience from last year when they were hospitalized after coughing up blood due to work-related stress.
In Nakashige's words,
“Thank you for watching Solo Leveling episode 12. It was a challenging project but with the dedication of the entire team, we persevered. As we prepare for the second season, I will prioritize rest and give it my all. Last year I had to be hospitalized because I vomited blood.”
Such revelations highlight the intense pressure and stress experienced by Solo Leveling participants. Furthermore, Nakashige's ordeal is not an isolated case.
In a previous interview, Nakashige revealed that Taito Ban, the actor who plays Jinwoo in Solo Leveling, also endured similar ordeals during production.
While recording the first half of season one, Ban coughed up blood in the studio due to voice strain. This level of dedication, while admirable, highlights the group's sacrifices for the sake of anime.
For fans who want to catch up on Solo Leveling, the first season of the hit anime series is now available to stream on Crunchyroll. For those unfamiliar with the series, the official synopsis offers a glimpse at its intriguing premise:
“They say whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger, but that's not the case with the world's weakest hunter Sung Jinwoo. After being brutally slaughtered by monsters in a high-level dungeon, Jinwoo returned to the System, a program that only he could see, helping him level up in every aspect. Now, he is inspired to uncover the secrets behind his powers and the dungeon that gave birth to them.”
