Solo Leveling is the most loved manga with many interesting mysteries, all of which are revealed at the end. The anime version was also a big hit, showing how attractive Solo Leveling is. However, despite its large fan base, the ending of the series surprised and even disappointed many fans.
At the end of Solo Leveling, Jinwoo found out why magical beasts and portals started appearing on Earth. He also learns about powerful beings called Rulers and Monarchs.
The kings want to destroy this planet. After a difficult battle in which Jinwoo almost died fighting three Monarchs, he gained the full power of the Dark Monarch.
He’s ready to take on the Monarchs. Jinwoo is ready to fight the most powerful King, Antares, the King of Destruction, who commands an army of ten million Dragons.
Jinwoo defeated Antares and the other Monarchs with the help of the Rulers. But because so much damage was done and many lives were lost, he used a special tool called the Cup of Rebirth.
This tool goes back in time to before the portal appeared. Later, in another world, he fights and defeats the Monarch again. In this way, Jinwoo became the hidden hero who saved the world without anyone noticing.
Chapter 163 Solo Leveling
In the series finale, Jinwoo discovers that Earth is where a great battle will take place between the Ruler and the Monarch. Rulers are created from light, while kings come from darkness.
They were both created by something called the Absolute Entity and they have been fighting each other forever. To end the constant battle, seven of the eight Rulers working for the Absolute rebelled.
They learned that the war was only meant to bring joy to the Absolute. They succeeded in defeating the Absolute Entity and Ashborn, the only remaining loyal Ruler. That was when Ashborn discovered his hidden power and became Shadow Monarch.
The Rulers used a special tool created by the Absolute known as the Cup of Rebirth to go back in time and try to prevent the tragedy. But every time, people die in every timeline.
So they use the Cup again, going back ten years to the story as we know it. This time, they made Earth stronger by replenishing mana and made humans stronger hunters by opening portals.
Jinwoo then learned that he had been chosen by the former Shadow King Ashborn to be his vessel. His ability to level up is just to prepare his body to receive Ashborn’s power. But when Jinwoo returned to the Double Dungeon, Ashborn decided to give his power to Jinwoo, making him the new Shadow King.
After thinking a lot, Jinwoo decided he had to defeat the Monarchs because they were created from darkness and only wanted to destroy and kill. So he returns with the Shadow Monarch’s official army and gets ready to fight Antares.
Antares is the King of Destruction, also known as the Dragon King, and he is the toughest of all the Monarchs.
Chapter 171
Jinwoo’s big fight against Antares at the end of the story begins when he arrives on the battlefield in Canada. Antares destroyed everything with his ten million army, waiting for Jinwoo to arrive. Soon, Antares surrounded Jinwoo with his army.
Jinwoo remembered his shadow soldiers and used a skill called Dragon’s Fear (which he got from Kamish’s rune stone) to make Antares’ troops unable to move for a while.
Antares was also surprised and Jinwoo took advantage of this moment. He uses Shadow Exchange to teleport both himself and Antares to a remote island in the world. Here, they continued the fierce battle.
The King of Destruction tried to trick Jinwoo by saying that he would leave the planet alone if Jinwoo helped him defeat the Dominators. But Jinwoo saw the bloodlust in Antares’s eyes and did not fall for the trap.
Chapter 177 Solo Leveling
After helping the Rulers, Jinwoo asked to use the Cup of Rebirth again. He said he lost too many people in the war and wanted to bring them back.
Jinwoo’s desire to turn back time shows that he wants to save not only his loved ones like Go Gunhee and his father, but also lost lives around the world. This includes those lost since the beginning of the war against the Monarchy and even since the gates first appeared.
The Rulers warned Jinwoo that if he failed, the Monarchs would return to life with their memories of this life intact. They also warn that the Rebirth Cup cannot be used again because it has been exhausted. Even so, Jinwoo remained steadfast in his choice. The ruler uses the Cup for the last time.
Jinwoo then woke up in his youthful body and enjoyed a peaceful time like a normal schoolboy. But soon, he heads to the void to fight the Monarch. For 27 years, Jinwoo fought the Monarch, saving Antares to the end.
Meanwhile, in the real world, two years have passed. Jinwoo returned and lived a normal life. However, he slowly begins to change his appearance to appear as if he is aging.
As the story nears its end, Jinwoo begins to meet people from the old timeline, such as Go Gunhee, Jinho, Juhee, Jinchul, and most importantly, Cha Haein. Many characters who would have died if they became hunters now live full and happy lives. Only the Ruler’s vessel knew about Jinwoo’s sacrifice.
Ultimately, while the unexciting final battle with Antares may disappoint some fans, Solo Leveling still ties up its loose ends quite nicely with a satisfying ending to Jinwoo’s story.
The series doesn’t show much of Jinwoo’s battles in space, but these are just pacing issues that Solo Leveling’s anime adaptation hopes to fix. Readers can find Solo Leveling on platforms like Pocket Comics, Tapas, and Tappytoon.
