Shueisha announced the Shueisha Seinen Manga Newcomer Awards on Thursday to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Weekly Young Jump magazine. The contest is based on the 100 million Yen Manga 40 Prize that the company held in 2019 to celebrate the magazine’s 40th anniversary.

The contest will have 45 different themes for artists to participate in. The top 10 works in these categories will move on to the final selection round and the grand prize winner will be awarded a cash prize of 10 million yen (about 66,600 USD).
The jury for the final selection round will include Aka Akasaka, Hiroya Oku, Toshio Sako, Satoru Noda, Yasuhisa Hara and ONE.
The total prize for the competition is up to 100 million yen (about 666,200 USD). Entries will be accepted from February 29 to July 31.
The 100 million yen 40 manga prize includes popular categories such as “Combat Manga”, “Historical Manga” and “Science Fiction Manga”. The new contest also expands the categories to include new categories such as “Mascot Comics,” “Vertical Comics,” and “Esports/VTuber Comics.”
Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ manga website has launched “Kimi no Tsuyomi dake” Shinsa! Itten Hyōka Mangashō”(Judge you purely on your strength! Manga Awards only judge one thing) the ultimate manga award. The award states that the judges will only judge manga based on their strengths, even if the work has only one strong point and even if its other elements are unsatisfactory.
