Warning: Spoilers for Do Try again chapter #2 New boxing series Redo ABOVE Shonen dance improve bets and difficulty of popular sports comics Hajime no ippobut Do Retry’s own remarkable story is strong enough to stand on its own without comparison.
Hajime No Ippo initially attracted a lot of readers partly because Makunouchi Ippo aspired to be a boxer and despite his natural talent, he almost failed to get accepted into Kamogawa Gym not just once. times that come twice. In addition to his powerful punch and later adoption of the Dempsey Roll, Ippo is defined by an unshakable fighting spirit that allows him to constantly get up despite being repeatedly overwhelmed during a match. Few manga can come close to Hajime No Ippo, but Do Retry has now entered the ring.
Ippo has no sister who is dying and has no money to take care of her
By Jun Kirarazaka, Do Retry explores many of the same themes as Hajime No Ippo through the world of boxing. Like Ippo, Aozoro Okami possesses an amazing fighting spirit but to a more remarkable degree as he shows when he is simultaneously defeated by many much larger people and will be in the boxing weight classes. completely different from him. While the series takes place in a very different, harsh and unforgiving setting of post-World War II Japan, that is not what defines or separates Do Retry from Hajime No Ippo. That is why Okami is forced to close the box and the difficulties surrounding them.
Okami has to box for yakuza to earn enough money to pay for his sister’s continued treatment for a life-threatening illness at a private hospital. Much of chapter one revolves around her decline and how Okami tried but couldn’t provide her with the care she needed just to survive. Their impossible situation, exacerbated by the decline of the country itself at the time, not only increased the risk, but also caused the reader to experience quite a bit of fear and helplessness, more what they went through in Hajime No Ippo. Further tension is explored in chapter two through Okami initially refusing to join the yakuza even when he knows that the money they earn is legitimate. Not only does this overturn how Ippo has consistently pursued boxing in his series, but it also adds irony to the fact that Okami has always wanted to box because his father is a professional boxer. Additionally, this influence introduces a sadder side to the story that Ippo has never explored since it implies that Okami’s father is dead.
Do Retry’s overall impact is impressive in part because of the bad impression the manga initially gave. Readers are misled into believing that the story will be about the protagonist not having the same natural talent as his sister even though his whole life revolves around following in their father’s footsteps. While this may cause some readers to empathize with the brother, the prank is so popular that many find it difficult to enjoy no matter how well it can be put to good use. But when the sister herself gets sick and the story turns about how hard the weaker brother needs to work to ensure her survival, things change for the better. These promising developments have thus facilitated Shonen dance‘S Redo Enter the ring with might Hajime no ippo.
