Shonen Jump's hugely popular action/comedy manga Sakamoto Days has received official confirmation of an upcoming anime adaptation, along with its first trailer, teaser images, and release date.
The first season of Jump Press premiered on Shonen Jump's official YouTube channel, bringing the latest news about Shonen Jump titles. It was revealed that Sakamoto Days will be released in January 2025, announced alongside an action-packed first trailer and a grateful comment from manga creator Yuto Suzuki. Sakamoto Days will be directed by Masaki Watanabe (Bakumatsu), Taku Kishimoto (BLUE LOCK) is in charge of plotting the series, You Moriyama is designing the characters and TMS Entertainment will produce the animation for the series. Tomokazu Sugita will voice the main character Taro Sakamoto. The anime series Sakamoto Days was previously rumored by many people when this game appeared on the list of projects being developed for release in 2024-2025 on Netflix. The film was then listed alongside shows such as Squid Game Season 2, Love in Blind Season 7, Weekly Shonen Jump's Dan Da Dan manga series, and an anime adaptation set in the world of The Terminator. However, after what appeared to be “error” information, Netflix quickly removed the mention of Sakamoto Days, sparking rumors of an internal leak. Therefore, Shonen Jump's recent official announcement of the adaptation serves as the confirmation that fans have been waiting for.

The manga series Sakamoto Days has been serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump since 2020. The series has been collected into 16 volumes, with Volume 17 to be released next month in June 2024.
