Shōnen Jump Netflix has announced an exciting new partnership with Netflix, and it could help make manga even more popular. Netflix has been investing heavily in anime in recent years, and it looks like the streaming giant is now ready to expand into manga with a new joint subscription plan with Shueisha.
According to WSJ_manga's X post, Shōnen Jump and Netflix to Launch New Joint Subscription Plan will be available from September 17, 2024. The new combined subscription plan will be cheaper and therefore could attract new readers to Shōnen Jump.
Netflix or Shueisha have yet to make an official announcement, so it's unclear which of Shueisha's streaming services will be included in the new plan. However, Manga Plus would be a strong candidate given the recent introduction of new subscription plans.

Collaboration Could Encourage More People to Try Manga
Despite its rapidly growing anime library, Netflix hasn't been able to compete with Crunchyroll until now. Netflix also doesn't have the best reputation among fans, which was made worse by the recent leak of Netflix's biggest upcoming titles. However, Netflix has acquired the licensing rights to some of its most anticipated releases, like the Ranma 1/2 and Dan Da Dan remakes, and its new partnership with Shōnen Jump could finally solidify Netflix's position.
Collaboration can finally bring Netflix a slight advantage over Crunchyroll, which has never been able to offer such a deal despite its dominance in the anime streaming space. More importantly, the new subscription offer could prompt new anime fans to try manga, helping to make manga more popular.
