The popular slice-of-life rom-com manga Teasing Master Takagi-San will end this fall.
According to Anime News Network, the September 2023 issue of Weekly Shonen Sunday announced that Soichiro Yamamoto’s Teasing Master Takagi-San manga will end in the issue’s November issue, which launches on October 12. Currently, 19 The manga’s volume has been released in Japan. Yen Press, publisher of the English version of the series, published the manga’s 17th volume on April 18, 2023. Vol. 18 is scheduled for release on January 23 of next year.
What is Master Tease Takagi-San?
Yamamoto’s popular manga debuted in Gessan mini, a companion booklet for Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine, in June 2013. The story revolves around the famous Takagi, who spends his days coming up with pranks. joke to prank his tired classmate Nishikata. Fed up with her antics, he ends up trying to get revenge, only to be overtaken by the clever but cunning Takagi. Although the two arch-enemies spend their days torturing each other, their deeper feelings strengthen their bond. Much of the show’s humor stems from Nishikata’s overly confused or embarrassed reactions to Takagi-san’s antics. Yamamoto also created a side story manga titled Ashita Wa Doyobi (Tomorrow is Saturday), about the humorous mistakes of three ordinary schoolgirls.
Shin-Ei Animation (Doraemon, The Dangers In My Heart) later adapted Teasing Master Takagi-san into an anime, which aired for three seasons from January 2018 to March 2022. Hiroaki Akagi, who is known with Crayon Shin-Chan and The Dangers in My Heart, directing the manga adaptation by Yamamoto. Fumi Tsubota (Rent-A-Girlfriend), Michiko Yokote (RIN-NE, Ranma 1/2) and Touko Machida (The Devil Is a Part Timer!) wrote the scripts for Season 1. For Seasons 2-3 Aki Itami (Fruits Basket 2001), Hiroko Futuda (Hayate the Combat Butler) and Kanichi Katou (Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-Kun) collaborated on the script. Rie Takahashi and Yuuki Kaji play the roles of Takagi and Nishikata, respectively.
Teasing Master Takagi-San is also getting a movie adaptation in June 2022. This film follows Nishikata and Takagi-san as they spend their last summer vacation together in junior high. During this time, the two find an abandoned kitten at a temple and adopt it as their own, naming it Hana. The series has the same director and script team that worked on Season 2-3 of the anime. Last year, Teasing Master Takagi-San: The Movie had a limited showing in North America.
The Teasing Master Takagi-San manga series ends on October 12. The anime is available to stream on Netflix.
