The classic shojo manga and anime The Rose of Versailles is getting a new collaboration with Sanrio and its iconic mascot characters. The collaboration comes ahead of MAPPA's upcoming new anime film, which will premiere in spring 2025.

The company teased the collaboration in a newly released collaboration image, which features the series' four main characters as adorable Sanrio mascots. Featured characters include Oscar François de Jarjayes, Marie Antoinette, André Grandier, and Hans Axel von Fersen.
Additionally, a temporary event will also take place in the future along with the sale of collaboration goods and merchandise. Details will be announced later.

Rose Of Versailles 2025 is the latest anime project inspired by Riyoko Ikeda's 1972 manga of the same name. It was preceded by a 1979-1980 anime series and a 1990 animated film titled The Rose of Versailles: I'll Love You As Long As I Live, produced by Tokyo Movie Shinsha (now TMS Entertainment).
The synopsis of the new film is described as follows:
Oscar François de Jarjayes, raised as the “son” and heir of a general’s family, disguises himself as a beautiful woman in men’s clothing. Marie Antoinette from neighboring Austria becomes a noble and graceful queen as her bride. Oscar’s servant and childhood friend, commoner André Grandier. Hans Axel von Fersen, a handsome and intelligent count from Sweden. They meet in Versailles, France in the prosperous late 18th century and live beautiful lives with their destinies while being swept away by the flow of time.
