An anime based on the characters of boy band JO1 will premiere this summer
The official Twitter account of JOCHUM, characters created by Sanrio in partnership with Japanese boy band JO1, announced on Saturday that the characters will get a television anime. The anime will begin airing this summer as part of the Mezamashi Doyо̄bi (Mezamashi Saturday) program, airing in Japan from 6:30-8:00 a.m.

Hazumu Sakuta (Sumikko Gurashi Sorairo no Mainichi) will direct the anime at Fanworks (Aggretsuko). Yoichi Kato (Yōkai Watch) is writing the script.
The 11 JOCHUM characters include black fox PiHai (representing JO1 member Sukai Kinjo), blue fox Rain (Ren Kawashiri), microphone Micoon (Junki Kōno), rabbit Chimata (Syoya Kimata), dragon Yanukami (Shо̄ Yonashiro), dog corgi Mamechi (Issei Mamehara), penguin Pop-poh (Takumi Kawanishi), chihuahua Chulala (Shion Tsurubo), angel Moco (Shо̄hei О̄hira), white dog Ruru (Ruki Hiroiwa) and sunflower Bira (Keigo Satо̄) . The characters all live in a single large house.
Idol group JO1 was formed during the Japanese reality show Produce 101 in 2019. The band debuted in 2020 and Sanrio collaborated to create JOCHUM characters in 2022. They performed theme songs for The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations and Fanfare of Adolescence.
