New Sailor Moon cosplay shows off all 10 Sailor Guardians in stunning photos
The first set of photos features Sailor Moon and the original five girls from the early episodes of Sailor Moon, all posing beautifully for the camera. The second set of photos features Sailor Moon with Sailor Uranus, Neptune, Chibi Moon, Saturn, and Pluto. Once again, all of the cosplayers exude a stunning aura as they proudly look out at the viewer. Although all 10 Sailor Moon girls are represented in this set, there are only six cosplayers in total. Mercury and Chibi Moon are played by @/rionsakura, while Mars and Saturn are played by @/mememememaiiii. Jupiter and Pluto are played by @/sachibudou, and Venus and Neptune are played by @/akiko_Triton. Uranus is played by @/dd_dd_2257 and Sailor Moon is played by @/princessusako.
While the girls of Sailor Moon are often referred to as the Pretty Guardians today, they were originally called the Sailor Scouts when the 90s Sailor Moon anime series aired in North America on June 1, 1998. The English dub of Sailor Moon by DIC Entertainment is often criticized for its Americanization, such as removing the Japanese soundtrack and changing characters' names to American-sounding names like Usagi Tsukino becoming Serena Tsukino. However, it also played a major role in the anime boom of the 1990s. Although the first English dub of Sailor Moon by DiC was notorious for its censorship, the passing of the torch to Cloverway is where this dub gained its infamous reputation, as it significantly changed Uranus and Neptune from a same-sex couple to cousins.
