Still one of the most popular and well-known anime and manga franchises in the world, Sailor Moon merchandise is often highly sought after, despite being largely only released in its home country. However, international fans now have the chance to order two iconic magical girl items: the Miracle Shiny Series “Cosmic Heart Compact” and “Spiral Heart Moon Rod.”
Bandai’s Miracle Shiny toy line was created to capture the magic of Sailor Moon’s transformation sequences and attacks that were so ingrained in the 90s anime series that many fans still remember today. Part 3 of the toy line introduces the Cosmic Heart and Spiral Heart Moon Rod from Sailor Moon S, the third season of the anime series that adapted the “Infinity” storyline from Naoko Takeuchi’s original manga. The former is used by Usagi to transform into her alter ego using the incantation “Moon Cosmic Power, Makeup!”, while the latter is used to unleash her famous “Moon Spiral Heart Attack” to destroy monsters.
Two of the Most Iconic Sailor Moon Items from the 90s Anime Released in the United States
The “Cosmic Heart Compact” replica is studded with sparkling gems and finished in a shiny gold plating. LEDs inside the body of the toy light up when a button on the back is pressed. Likewise, the “Spiral Heart Moon Rod” is finished in the same gold plating and contains red LEDs that make the item glow, just like in the anime. Both replicas are currently available for pre-order from Premium Bandai, although viewers in the United States have the option of purchasing from direct Japanese sites that offer international shipping, such as Kurama Toys or Nin-Nin Game, or from US-based companies like BigBadToyStore. On the latter site, the “Cosmic Heart Compact” currently retails for $63.99, while the “Spiral Heart Moon Rod” is listed at $69.99. Both products are expected to ship in January 2025.
The fan-favorite 90s Sailor Moon anime can be streamed on Hulu, while the reboot series, Sailor Moon Crystal, is available on Crunchyroll and Netflix. The latter streaming service is also currently home to the two-part Sailor Moon Cosmos film. Naoko Takeuchi's original manga is licensed in the United States by Kodansha USA.
