Suzuki aims to end the manga with the same number of volumes as the worst original manga

The 26th volume of Ryūta Suzuki’s spin-off manga Worst Gaiden: Guriko revealed on Thursday that Suzuki plans to end the series with the 33rd volume.
According to Suzuki, the spin-off manga was originally planned to end in two months with only 10 chapters. But the series is now five years old, and Suzuki says he feels nothing but gratitude for his readers, his staff, the publishing company, and the original manga’s worst creator Hiroshi Takahashi. Suzuki added that he did not feel rushed to end the series, but he also felt the series should not have too many episodes. But since the series has reached 26 volumes, he now aims to complete the Worst Gaiden: Guriko manga in the 33rd volume, the same volume that Takahashi completed his Worst manga.
Suzuki launched the spin-off manga in the January 2019 issue of Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine.
Takahashi began Worst as a sequel to his previous Crows series in 2001 and ended it in 2013. The story follows a delinquent named Hana Tsukishima as he rises to the top of the gangs. party at the infamous Suzuran Boys’ High School. A one-volume side story titled Worst Gaiden ran in Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine in 2009. The franchise launched a new spinoff manga titled Worst Gaiden: Dokuro (Worst Side Story: Skull) in February 2009. 2019. Another new spinoff manga titled Worst Gaiden Zetton-sensei debuted in July 2020. Another spinoff hit Akita Shoten’s Manga Cross website in January 2022 titled Worst Gaiden Saburock Santa: Namonaki Karasu-tachi (Worst Side Story Saburock Santa: Nameless Crow).
Takahashi’s manga Crow ran for 26 volumes and was adapted into a two-episode anime OVA. The manga also inspired three live-action films, with Takashi Miike directing the first two films, Crows Zero and Crows Zero II. Crows Explode, the third film, opened in Japan in April 2014. Tokyo Shock released the first film on DVD and Blu-ray in North America, and MVM Video also released Crows Zero and Crows Zero II in the UK.
HiGH&LOW THE WORST, a crossover film combining both the main manga and the HiGH&LOW film series, premiered in Japan in October 2019. 6 from HiGH&LOW THE WORST, a sequel to the film, premiered on NTV in November 2020. A sequel opens in September 2022.
