The Rising of the Shield Hero is a very interesting isekai series that tries its best to show what fantasy is like from a Japanese perspective. There are many interesting characters in the story. While we could really discuss each of them individually, in this article we will talk about Ren, one of the main characters of the series, who has a particularly important role. In this article you will learn a little about Ren, as well as his fate in The Rising of the Shield Hero, as we will reveal what happens to him in the series, i.e. whether he whether he died or not.
Article details: Ren Amaki is one of the Four Legendary Heroes in the series, known as the Swordsman. He is a skilled fighter but is also a solo player and often refuses help, which can lead to dire consequences in battle. Ren has a very rich story, but a pivotal moment happened when he chased the Turtle God. He was abandoned by his allies but refused to retreat, leading to the massacre of the entire group. Ren survived, but his mentality was severely damaged and it took him some time to recover from the disaster involving the Divine Turtle.
Ren is an important character in the series, and his story is quite interesting
Ren Amaki is also known as the Sword Hero, and he is one of the Four Legendary Heroes summoned into the fictional world where the story takes place. He has a very rude personality and due to his solo qualities, he does not coordinate well with others, which has gotten him into trouble many times in the series so far. However, he remains an exceptionally skilled hero, and when he regains his sanity, he becomes an invaluable member of the series’ main cast.
Ren, the youngest hero, was a high school student when he was called upon to save his childhood friend, who died in the process. He is a natural recluse and has tried his best to maintain his image of a cool man. Possessing the highest level of loyalty, he likes to manage his group like a clan. He only cooperates when a formidable monster appears because he believes that everyone is solely responsible for themselves.
Although he is open to hearing Naofumi’s opinions, his condescending attitude towards those less experienced than him still causes friction between them; this is because he thinks the real world is like his video game, where levels are more important than skills (like when other heroes except Naofumi). However, this strengthening technique is extremely ineffective.
Despite his arrogance, he is more aware of what he does and chooses to be more vigilant in situations where there are unclear or deceptive situations, which has helped him more than once.
The disaster involving the Divine Turtle caused a lot of problems for Ren and his mentality
We told you in the previous paragraph an overview of Ren’s role and personality. Now, as you can imagine, his story is quite extensive, which means we can’t really tell you everything that happened to him. That’s why we had to shorten this part and focus on one major event in his story: the disaster involving the Divine Turtle, which left a lasting mark on Ren and his soul. It’s in the series.
In short, the Turtle God is one of the four Guardian Beasts, the first; Its goal, like the goals of the other three monsters, is to protect the world from the Calamity Wave. Turtle God is partly based on the concept of world turtles. It was a giant turtle with a mountain on its shell. This mountain also has a Reiki city, which is the center of the Turtle Nation. It is an extremely powerful and aggressive creature and it has caused a lot of trouble in the past. So, how does all of this relate to Ren?
Well, in Episode 6, Ren discovers that the creatures causing trouble in the world all originate from the Divine Turtle. Realizing that, he decided to gather information, and when he had enough information, he organized a group to attack and defeat the Turtle God. Ren, Motoyasu and Itsuki then decide to attack it using dragons, horses and Filolials, but things do not go as Ren planned. Specifically, faced with the Beast’s immense size and power, Motoyasu and Itsuki simply retreated, realizing that they would die.
But Ren did not retreat. As a solo player, as we explained above, he went on a suicide mission that resulted in the death of the entire group while he tried to survive. They had absolutely no chance against the Turtle God and it was a slaughterhouse for them. He fell into a state of pain and delusion after the Spirit Turtle killed his entire team.
At first, Naofumi tried to help him, but he instead went to Malty for emotional support, and soon her assets were taken away. Disguised, he turned to theft as a means of advancement and rose to the position of leader of the bandits, obtaining the Curse Series’ Sword of Greed and Gluttony. When Eclair challenged him again while under the curse, he lost easily. In the end, he decided to stay in the Shield Hero’s village and take Eclair’s class because he was ready to admit his previous transgressions and could not use his cursed weapon to gain experience or money.
