Review and recap of episode 9 of Urusei Yatsura season 2 – Shinobu’s Earthly Dream
Today once again, we witnessed an interesting episode in which we got the ultimate proof of Ataru’s love for Lum. Ataru has always been someone who can do anything to get girls. And this time, we’re talking about a harem where he can get every girl he wants and more.
Best of all, we see this future as very possible, and it is by no means just a dream. Ataru made contact with an inner portal where he saw the harem he always wanted, but it came with a tragic sacrifice. If Ataru is willing to pay the price, he can have the harem of his dreams, but if he can’t then he will have to abandon that plan.
But not only Ataru can become his dream. reality. Lum’s bold dream of getting married also came true. However, it faces a serious challenge, and if Ataru doesn’t do something about it, it may cease to exist.
Even Shinobu can see her ideal future, but sadly, in the end, she loses. a connection with someone that could have been something more.
Today’s episode was really good and had many touching moments, along with some funny moments. Ataru gradually realizes what he really wants and what he must do to protect his true ideal future. He definitely becomes more mature than ever in this episode, but whether that maturity lasts is something we’ll have to see in future episodes.
Not to mention, we get another fun short at the end of the ending theme where the teacher, this time, visits Shinobu’s house. He thought that this time, he might have a different experience than what he had when conducting meetings with parents, but things did not go as planned.
Identify
I enjoyed this episode because we took a break from the random comedy scenes and focused more on the relationships between the main characters. We see Ataru not as a bad guy but as someone who can’t help himself, as a hopeless pervert. But I believe that if anyone can change him for the better it is Lum, and hopefully one day we will see these two truly together. From next week, we will see another new story.
