Demon Slayer Hashira training season 4 Episode 3 is pretty awesome. Let's take a detailed look at how the third episode plays out below.
Demon Slayer Season 4 Hashira Training Arc Summary
In today's episode, we finally get the answer to the pressing question left in the previous segment. At the start of the training arc, it was revealed that Giyu would not be participating, but the reason was never revealed—until now. We delve into Giyu's past, exploring his indifferent attitude and hesitation when it comes to training.
The episode begins with Tamayo informing Yushiro that they will be relocating one last time after the crow's visit. She decided, upon invitation from Ubuyashiki, to continue her research at his residence. Meanwhile, Tanjiro receives a personal letter from his master, giving him a single mission: persistently monitor and convince Giyu to tell about his past and participate in the training.
This episode cleverly combines serious drama with humorous moments. Giyu's backstory is heartbreaking, but Tanjiro's tireless and humorous efforts to get Giyu to share his story and participate in the training are sure to generate laughter. The interactions between Tanjiro, the unstoppable extrovert, and Giyu, the reserved introvert, are especially fun.
Additionally, an unexpected character reappears, someone previously thought to be insignificant, who will profoundly influence Giyu's future decisions.
Demon Slayer Season 4 Hashira Season 4 Review and Summary Episode 3
Today's episode is quite interesting in the first half as we finally get to the training portion with the former Hashira, Usui. And things don't seem easy for those going through this. Usui is completely cruel and doesn't like being soft on anyone. His training is rigorous and mainly focuses on increasing the core strength of his students. He made them run for hours across the mountain, climb steep cliffs and even force-feed them after training. And helping him are his three wives, who prepare all the food for the students.
This is when Usui joins Tanjiro, after getting better and getting enough rest. The moment he entered the scene, the mood changed as he arrived with endless positivity and energy to prepare. We don't see Inosuke or Zenitsu here training with Usui so they might be somewhere else. Things were far from normal in this half, as Obanai rightly pointed out that it was the calm before the real storm.
However, towards the end, we get some small but important details that will be important later. We even see Usui back in action after a long time and I wonder if he really needs to retire since he's clearly stronger than a regular demon hunter. The people he was training and even Tanjiro were no match for him, to say the least, and they clearly needed more training.
Today's episode didn't have much to explore and to be honest, it felt like it ended too soon. I'd love to know more details about the training but, it seems like the producers are stretching things out as this season will only include the training portion.
Verdict
I liked this episode, but also felt like there was a lack of more information. It was really interesting, but clearly they could show us a little more in the next episode. It's disappointing that we'll have to wait another week to see Tanjiro compete. Hopefully the pace of the next episode will be better.
