In the early days of PokémonBefore god-like Legends became popular, a Ghost-type Pokémon was worshiped as a god for its terrifying abilities, and even acquired its own unique name: Black Mist. .
In The Electric Tale of Pikachu, a manga adaptation of the anime, one chapter focuses heavily on Sabrina, who is portrayed very differently than in the anime. While the anime Sabrina is a cold girl who never grew up properly, this Sabrina is warm and friendly, happy to meet Ash when he arrives in town. It made things even sadder when Sabrina suddenly fell into a coma after being called away. Apparently, this coma is the work of a Pokémon talked about in the legends of Saffron City: a mysterious Pokémon worshiped as a god, known as the Black Mist.
Pokémon’s “Black Mist” hunter earns fame by devouring souls
In this version of the Pokémon world, it turns out that the popular move known as Dream Eater isn’t just capable of eating dreams – it can also be used to devour a person’s soul. Sabrina fought against the Black Mist, but it gained the upper hand and ate her soul. That leaves Ash and Brock to defeat Black Fog and hopefully regain Sabrina’s soul. They knew that the Black Mist had been a threat in the area for centuries, to the point where it was considered more of an unstoppable natural disaster than a monster attack.
Ash and a few townsfolk manage to create a giant Poké Ball to capture this giant-sized Haunt, but that plan ultimately fails. When Ash tried again with the Ultra Ball, Black Fog used Self Destruct while in the Poké Ball, destroying himself instead of being captured by the humans. Sabrina, now recovered, speculates that after being seen as a god for so long, the Obsessed could not accept the reality of having to submit to humans and decided she would rather die. Its sculptures are even found in the Pokémon Tower, proving how revered it has been for a long time.
Black Fog is a realistic approach to Ghost-type Pokémon
While many Pokédex entries talk about Ghost-type Pokémon that eat life-force or even specific souls, it’s rare for the series to actually describe what this would be like, and it’s never been fearlessly done. as with the Black Mist. Black Mist, while recognizable as a Haunter, also looks quite different, seemingly getting bigger and scarier over the years. Without Ash, Sabrina was most likely dead, and the Black Mist would continue to hunt the people of Saffron City and Lavender Town for an unknown amount of time. And again, this is just an Obsessive; imagine how terrifying a real legendary Pokémon would be.
Black Fog is undoubtedly one of the scariest interpretations of Ghost-type Pokémon in the franchise, and it’s impressive what the manga can achieve with so little work. Fans love the scarier side of Pokémon it would be good if you watch at least this Black Fog chapter of The Electric Tale of Pikachu.
