Crunchyroll has teased North American fans with a glimpse of the upcoming Psycho-Pass: Providence.
Popular anime streaming site Crunchyroll has teamed up with ComicBook.com to give Western audiences a glimpse at the upcoming fourth installment of the sci-fi crime thriller series that is set to take place. favourite. Titled “The New Threat,” the short one-minute clip highlights the notorious peacebreakers, foreign paramilitary organization that will serve as the film’s villains. The video also stars Milicia Stronskaya, a researcher whose work will bring the Peacebreakers and protagonist Akane Tsunemori into conflict.
Psycho-Pass: What is Providence?
Produced by animation studio Production IG and directed by Naoyoshi Shiotani, Psycho-Pass: Providence serves as a prequel to 2019’s Psycho-Pass 3 and focuses on Akane and team’s search for the Stronskaya Papers her, a mysterious document believed to be capable of destabilizing Japan and the Sibyl System. Writers Makoto Fukami and Tow Ubukata, who both wrote the scripts for previous Psycho-Pass installments, have also worked on the scripts for Providence.
Crunchyroll’s synopsis for the film reads: “January 2118. The director of the Criminal Investigation Bureau, Akane Tsunemori, receives reports of an incident on board a foreign ship — the body of the Professor. Milicia Stronskaya was discovered. Behind the incident is a group known as the Peacebreakers, a foreign paramilitary organization, and a new outside threat is targeting the professor’s research papers known as the “Stronskaya Documents. ” escalate beyond their expectations. The Stronskaya Profile could reveal a truth that will shake the Japanese government, and even the Sibyl System, to its core. It is in this untold story that the missing link is revealed.”
Production of IG’s Psycho-Pass
Written by Gen Urobochi, Psycho-Pass is set in a distant future in which an advanced computer network called the Sibyl System has taken control of much of Japan. The story follows Akane Tsunemori, a new inspector of Unit One in the Criminal Investigation Department of the Bueau Public Safety Bureau. The series has become one of the most popular sci-fi anime series since its debut in 2012, with fans and critics alike praising the franchise’s animation style, growth and development.
