Pokémon Horizon Its new villains’ skills were soon shown off, but its third episode revealed that these enemies are very different from Team Rocket in several key ways.
Though Pokémon’s Team Rocket starts off quite menacing, it doesn’t take long for Jessie, James, and Meowth to become the laughing stock as they are repeatedly defeated by Pikachu. The larger Team Rocket organization is still a bit more threatening, but any recurring Rocket members, like Butch and Cassidy, will eventually suffer the same fate. Even Giovanni became a laughingstock due to Meowth’s “Imagine Boss” scene, in which Meowth would imagine any silly thing they had planned that would please Giovanni and lead to them being praised. reward. While it’s still too early to be certain that this won’t happen with the new Horizons villains, they set themselves apart from Team Rocket in a way that suggests they may not suffer the same fate. .
Pokémon’s new villain is more complicated than Team Rocket
The villains, known as the Adventurer, are made up of a young man named Amethio, the leader, and two underlings, Zir and Conia. Amethio seems to be a fighter, having challenged Professor Friede in each of their three encounters so far. Episode 2 of Pokémon Horizons shows Riko’s Sprigatito being swept off the deck of an airship by the wind, but Amethio sends a Corviknight to rescue it… and then takes it with him. However, in episode 3, it is revealed that Amethio has no plans to use Sprigatito as a bargaining chip to obtain Riko’s mysterious pendant, and when Riko gives him the pendant in exchange, he I refused. This is partly because Riko herself is important in a way, but Amethio’s motives and goals have yet to be revealed. Instead, he agreed to a fair fight with Friede, and amazingly, the professor himself rejected the deal. Meanwhile, Zir is tasked with installing a tracking device on the spacecraft, making sure they don’t lose track of Riko. In addition, it shows that Conia spoiled Sprigatito, giving it many gifts and gifts, and taking good care of it. She becomes somewhat possessive of it, but it is clear that the Adventurer is not a Pokémon thief like Team Rocket.
In just three episodes, Amethio has proven herself to be a very different kind of enemy than Jessie and James. He’s clearly a talented trainer, and while he wants this pendant, he doesn’t care about hurting anyone to get it. He also has the foresight when ordering Zir to tag their ships, in case they lose – something Team Rocket would never even take into account. And, although Jessie and James have been shown to have a heart of gold deep down, Amethio (and to a lesser extent Conia) has demonstrated some sort of moral code that automatically turns them into good people. more – and maybe even better characters, though that remains to be seen.
While Pokémon Horizon still very early in its life, it has done a great job in establishing new characters and setting a distinctly different tone – something that Amethio and the adventurers exemplify.
