Summary
The latest episode of Pokémon Horizons revealed a new mysterious location, Rakua, described as a Pokémon paradise. Rakua is said to be a different type of location than other regions in the Pokémon world, possibly mythical and similar to the concept of Atlantis. The team’s goal is to find Rakua, which may be home to undiscovered Pokémon, and Terapagos, the mysterious turtle Pokémon, which appears to have a strong connection to this location. Adventurers are also interested in Rakua, making the search more difficult. A new arc focusing on Rakua is being set up in Pokémon Horizons.
Warning: Spoilers for Pokémon Horizons, Episode 24Pokémon Horizon returns from the break with plenty of new information for fans, but the most intriguing is the mention of a new region of the Pokémon world, a supposed Pokémon paradise. This paradisiacal location is the ultimate goal of the ancient Explorer, Lucius, who is teased as one of the strongest trainers in history.
At the end of the previous episode, fans were left with a mysterious word, “Rakua,” spoken by an illusion of Lucius summoned by the mysterious turtle Pokémon now identified as Terapagos. Riko, Roy, and Friede eventually make contact with Riko’s grandmother, an adventurer named Diana. Diana reveals that she long ago discovered the necklace that became Terapagos and found it along with Lucius’s diary of adventures, recording his search for the land known as Rakua. This goal requires assembling an absurdly powerful group of Pokémon, including Black Rayquaza, Galarian Moltres, and the Titan Arboliva seen in the series.
What is known about Rakua, the new mysterious location of Pokémon
Unfortunately, before Diana could deliver Lucius’ diary, the group was attacked by Adventurers, so further information about Rakua has been kept under wraps for now. However, a little more can be inferred from what has already been stated. Even though other parts of the Pokémon world are called “regions,” the suffix meaning “region” has not yet been used in conjunction with Rakua. That could suggest it’s a different kind of place, though exactly what it is like is a mystery. It is discussed in a way that makes it sound mythical, perhaps a place similar to Atlantis in Greek mythology. Additionally, “Rakua” is very similar to rakuen, the Japanese word for heaven.
Searching for a lost place believed to be paradise is a goal fit for a legendary explorer, and it’s certainly the kind of quest that would require a very strong team to achieve. Terapagos reacts very strongly when it hears the word “Rakua,” which may suggest a more substantive connection between it and the mysterious land. Perhaps Lucius is searching for Rakua to return Terapagos to its home, which could indicate that Rakua is home to other breeds of Pokémon that have never been recorded before. It remains unclear whether Lucius actually found Rakua, or what his intentions for the place might have been if he did.
The world of Pokémon is filled with the ruins of ancient civilizations, so perhaps a long-lost legendary land isn’t that surprising. With Rakua now on the Rising Volt Tacklers’ radar, it looks like the starship and its crew can begin searching for this paradise on their own. Perhaps reaching this paradise is even the reason the Adventurers so want the Terapagos/pendant, so the heroes will have to be careful not to lead the villains straight to their goal. they. Pokémon Horizon seems to be setting up a new arc here and the mysterious land of Rakua lies at the center of the next mystery.
