Summary
The evil group known as the Explorers may have more complex motives than fans initially thought. The Adventurers were once friends and supporters of the ancient Explorer Lucius, who possessed the necklace the heroes were looking for. This suggests that the group is over a hundred years old and may have changed over time. It’s possible that the Explorers’ true target isn’t the Pokémon Terapagos but a place called Rakua, and Terapagos plays a key role in finding it. The group’s interest in Lucius’ remaining Pokémon supports this theory.
Warning: Spoilers for Pokémon Horizons Episode #25 Demons are on the hunt Pokémon Horizon‘ heroes, the Adventurers, have finally had their origins revealed and it appears the group’s motives may be more complex than they first realized. After 25 episodes of searching for Riko’s pendant, fans were finally given a clue as to why they wanted it so much.
The adventurers have been after Riko’s pendant, which recently transformed into the mysterious Pokémon Terapagos, but the reason why remains unclear, other than the fact that their boss, Gibeon, ordered it. It is revealed that before Riko got the pendant, they tried to befriend Liko’s grandmother, Diana, but she rejected them, despite being approached by a long-time friend.
However, Diana did not know the group’s name at the time and only heard it during the attack in episode 25. Diana was stunned to learn the group was called the Explorers, as the Explorers had been friends and relatives. support Ancient. The adventurer Lucius, who originally owned the pendant.
The adventurers started out as loyal allies of Lucius
Diana’s recognition of the Adventurers as being connected to Lucius provides some interesting insight into the group, which may suggest they aren’t completely evil. If the Adventurers were Lucius’ friends during his adventuring days, then the organization is at least over a hundred years old. Of course that means that today’s team isn’t necessarily the same as before and has had a lot of time to change. It also explains how they knew of the pendant’s existence–they may have the best record on Lucius of anyone in the entire Pokémon world.
According to Lucius’ legend, he traveled throughout the Pokémon world until he found a place called Rakua, a paradise. It’s possible that the Explorer’s true target isn’t necessarily the rare Pokémon Terapagos, but is actually Rakua, and Terapagos is merely needed to find it. The group also shows interest in Lucius’ other Pokémon, such as Black Rayquaza. Given that Diana told Riko and Roy to search for Lucius’ remaining Pokémon, it’s possible that his team was also important in gaining access to Rakua. With both the Explorers and Rising Volt Tacklers looking to collect these Pokémon, it naturally brings the two groups into conflict with each other.
The Adventurers’ motives are not entirely clear, but their connection to Lucius may mean that their original targets were not malicious. Maybe in some way they were acting on Lucius’ wishes all along, perhaps their true goal was to protect Rakua from outsiders. Of course, the group’s behavior is hardly that of a benevolent organization, between hypnosis, kidnapping, and general destruction. However, this dark direction may be new, with Gibeon effectively hijacking the group to achieve his own ends. What is the truth Pokémon Horizon‘ The enemy organization will only be revealed at a later date, but for now, there’s some great information to speculate about.
