Pokémon Horizon just finished the first part of the story and is currently entering a transition period as the crew of the spaceship sets sail for the region of Paldea, the setting of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. A land of new Pokémon awaits, and Roy and Riko are finally positioned to begin exploring the Pokémon World in earnest.
When will Pokémon Horizons Episodes be released?
Pokémon Horizons releases new episodes on Friday, at 6:55 p.m. JST — around 5 a.m. EST or 2 a.m. PST for the US. The series is currently not localized for Western audiences, so the only way to watch it legally at the moment is through Japanese broadcaster TokyoTV. Programs broadcast on TokyoTV also don’t have any form of English subtitles, meaning fans watching that way will need a bit of Japanese understanding to understand what’s going on. The series has been announced for localization, but the only date offered is currently “2023 and beyond”, suggesting that a translated version will be released sometime this year.
What happened in episode 6 of Pokémon Horizons?
Episode 6 of Pokémon Horizons sees the climax of the first season, where Riko and Roy battle Amethio and predictably lose, as their starter Pokémon is still low-level, while Amethio’s Ceruledge has gone. Well trained and experienced. Roy’s Ancient Poké Orb begins to react with Riko’s pendant once again, causing a mysterious crystalline shape of shiny Rayquaza to be sent out from the orb. After a brief rampage that caused Amethio to flee, Rayquaza left the area, allowing the crew to complete repairs and leave the island. Amethio is punished for failing and drops the case, introducing a mysterious new villain known only as Spinel. Roy officially joins the Rising Volt Tacklers aboard the airship, and the end of the episode sees them fly into the sunset towards Paldea.
The seventh episode of Pokémon Horizons sets sail for the new region
The ship’s destination since picking up Riko is Paldea, but the ship was damaged in a storm and they had to land for repairs. With repairs completed, the ship officially sailed for Paldea. The next episode is titled “Training! Captain Pikachu” and the preview shows Riko and Roy practicing their combat skills by confronting Professor Friede’s Captain Pikachu on the battleship floor of the spaceship. Episode 9’s title “Arrival in Paldea” suggests that episodes 7 and 8 will form a small travel arc set mainly on spaceships.
The plot of Pokémon Horizons is progressing at a good pace, ensuring that the anime’s story isn’t bogged down by monster episodes of the week as often happens with Ash. Pokémon Horizons continues to be the modern Pokémon title that many fans have been craving for years, while remaining accessible to a younger audience. With the Paldea region coming up with (proper) anime, it’s an exciting time to Pokémon fan!
