The Pokémon Horizon The anime got off to a great start, setting itself apart from the series when Ash Ketchum was the main hero. That’s especially true when the show finally introduced the male and female protagonists, Roy and Riko, to each other. The plot is starting to take shape and Pokémon fans are clamoring to find out where this new series is headed.
When are the Pokémon Horizons episodes released?
Pokémon Horizons is currently airing only in Japan, prior to the simultaneous international release that many anime series use today. Therefore, there is no legitimate option to watch this series, unless one happens to have access to Japanese TV channels. An English release date for the series has not been provided, apart from the generic text “2023 and beyond” displayed at the end of the English trailer.
For those with access to Japanese TV, Pokémon Horizons can be watched on Tokyo TV at 6:55 p.m. JST every Friday. These broadcasts take place just before 5 a.m. EST and 2 a.m. PST, making it difficult for fans in the US to catch even if they can watch Japanese TV channels. Broadcasts are also broadcast without any form of subtitles, so it may be difficult for non-Japanese speakers to follow the episodes.
What happened in episode 4 of Pokémon Horizons?
Episode 4 of Pokémon Horizons saw the airship damaged, forcing it to stop at an island near Kanto, where it turns out Pokémon’s amazing new Professor Friede has some history. The island also happens to be home to Roy, the series’ male protagonist, who dreams of exploring the world and becoming a Pokémon trainer one day. Riko meets Roy while she is searching for the ship’s Fuecoco, which fell off the deck into the water and got lost on the island. Fuecoco also causes a bit of trouble when eating a bunch of berries, angering local wild Pokémon and causing them to go on a rampage. Initially, Roy helped Riko escape, revealing to her his secret treasure, the Ancient Poké Ball, but the two were quickly captured by wild Pokémon. Professor Friede shows up just in time to save the pair, and Roy says goodbye to Riko and Fuecoco, albeit reluctantly.
The fifth episode of Pokémon Horizons sees Amethio move
While the spaceship managed to escape Riko and the pendant, they were still tracked by Amethio and his crew, who tracked them down in a submarine. It looks like Amethio plans to make his move in the next episode, when they appear outside of the submarine. Additionally, Roy visits the spaceship before it leaves, and the crew discovers that the old man Friede talked to is actually Roy’s grandfather. It looks like they might be negotiating for Roy to travel in a hot air balloon, though that wasn’t explicitly stated in the episode’s preview.
Pokémon Horizon went on to deliver a true plot twist from the status quo, and that trend only looks set to continue in episode 5.
